It's Electra's birthday tomorrow. She's joining me in the age of seventeen. I had no idea what to get her. I remember she said that she wanted to meet Panic! At The Disco, but when I called Brendon up he said tour has taken over their life. But maybe another time.
I went to the record store in search for something to get her.
I browsed the shelves. I could get her Dookie. She didn't have that album. She didn't have the new The Pretty Reckless' new album. Maybe I'd get her those.
I went to pick up Dookie from the shelf but another hand grabbed it before I could. I looked at who had captured the cd. A tall teenager had grabbed it. He had a mass of curly, short, brown hair on his head and he was wearing a black and white striped shirt, accompanied with blue jeans. He looked at me and smiled.
"Sorry dude, here you take it." He apologised, putting the cd in my hands.
I looked down at the colorful explosive cover and then to the curly topped stranger. I smiled back. "Thanks man."
"No sweat." He picked up American Idiot and read the back. "The name's Joe, by the way. Trohman."
I smiled awkwardly at him again. "Hey, Joe. I'm Patrick Stumph."
He looked at me as if I was joking. "Stump?"
"Yeah, with a h at the end, but you don't say it." I clarified.
Joe seemed to believe that we were friends now. I guess so.
"So, Patrick, you've got a pretty good music taste. But seriously, you don't have Dookie yet?!"
I pushed my glasses up my nose and readjusted my hat. "Thanks... And I actually do. This is for my girlfriend. She doesn't have it."
Joe nodded and flitted through a couple of Metallica CDs. "Do you play anything? Y'know, instrument wise?"
I nodded also. "Yeah, drums and guitar. Guitar kinda. Drums, well I'm better at those. I was actually part of a band, but I didn't see us going anywhere."
"Sweet, sweet." He mumbled. Then a look spread across his face. A look of an idea. "Hey... I'm starting up a band with my friend, Pete. Maybe we should come round and audition you."
Was he asking me if I wanted to join his band or was he telling me that I was joining his band? I don't know. I didn't know the guy. I didn't know his friend either. I guess it'd be fun.
"Uh, sure. I guess. Here, take my number." I took out my phone and read the number aloud to Joe. "And come round next week sometime."
"Why not tomorrow?" Joe questioned, locking his phone.
"Oh, it's my girlfriends birthday." I explained, flashing Dookie up.
He nodded and smiled. "Sure. Happy birthday to her then. I gotta get going-" He picked up a Metallica cd. "I'll give you a call sometime."
And with that, my possible future band member left.
*Electra's house*
After I came home from the record store, I took the cd to my house, and went to Electra's house. We were home alone with Kyle.
"So, I went by the record store before I came here." I told her, sparking up a conversation.
"Yeah?" She said. She looked gorgeous today.
