Cheetahscar's Rage

•Chapter 4•

"Cheetahkit, do you smell that?"
Ravenshadow asked raising his nose in the air. Cheetahkit exhaled heavily, weary after training with Ravenshadow for so long. Cheetahkit opened her mouth and was surprised to have it flooded with the choking stench of smoke. Cheetahkit coughed on the harsh tang of the substance.
"Cheetahkit, you need to wake up now, we can train again tomorrow."
Ravenshadow hissed fading along with Cheetahkits dream. Cheetahkit blinked open her eyes confused at why Ravenshadow wanted her to wake up and what the smoke stench was from.
Cheetahkit gazed around the den coming to her senses. Smoke flooded the den it was thick and choking, Moondust and Pebblekit were snoring unaware of the situation. It was still night, but it seemed strangely light outside, an orange tint was plastered to the black sky. Cheetahkit coughed on the smoke struggling to catch her breath as she peered outside the den. Terror shot down her spine as she was greeted by a roaring fire buring the trees surrounding her camp, blazing closer to the heart of the camp. Cheetahkit made no hesitation,
"Fire! there's a fire in the camp!"
Cheetahkit screeched, her voice echoed through the camp before being drowned by the roaring fire. Her clanmates started stirring appearing out of their dens in panic. Petalwing who was the camp guard had fallen asleep, she stirred realizing her mistake and started waking up the rest of Riverclan. Moondust pulled Pebblekit close to her stomach horror hardly visible in her eyes since the fire reflected brightly in them, drowning any other emotion.
"CHEETAHKIT! STAY CLOSE TO ME!"
Moondust screeched trying to sound louder than the crackling roaring fire. Cheetahkit felt fear root her to the ground, but she shook it off and dashed to Moondust. Cheetahkit burried her head in her fur searching for some kind of comfort for the terrifying situation.
Then Mistystars voice sounded out.
"RIVERCLAN! EVACUATE, GO OUT THE CAMP ENTRANCE!"
Moondust snatched Cheetahkit and Pebblekit up by the scruff racing to the camp entrance where all her clanmates were pouring out. Cheetahkit wailed in terror and in response Pebblekit squirmed. That loosened Moondusts grip, causing Pebblekit to slip out of her grip and roll into the smoke disappearing. Moondust wirrled around and wailed for pebblekit, but there was no reply. Moondust placed Cheetahkit down and hissed an order.
"follow your clanmates put of camp do NOT wander off Cheetahkit I'm going to go look for your sister."
Moondust then raced into the smoke dissapearing out of sight. glanced at the flood of Riverclan cats pouring out of the camp she met eyes with Sneezecloud who was being helped put of camp by Oakblaze. Sneezecloud frowned at Cheetahkit in sadness of the situation. Cheetahkit choked on smoke, it was stinging her eyes and clogging her throat. She knew she had to follow her clanmates, but Cheetahkit felt the urge to go find Pebblekit. Cheetahkit turned around and bounded into the smoke ignoring the gasps of shock from her clanmates as she plunged into the smoke. Cheetahkit Felt the smoke close behind her, swallowing her into the heavy fog of choking smoke. There was no going back now. Cheetahkit desperately wailed for Pebblekit, "Pebblekit! Where did you go!" Cheetahkit cried before ending in a body wracking spout of coughing. Cheetahkit wheezed struggling to draw in a breath of air, instead inhaling mite smoke. The blood roared in Cheetahkits ears, The fire crackling and blazing ominously. Cheetahkit forced her eyes open and took a in a deep breath painfully. Cheetahkit wobbled on her legs as she stumbled foward blindly through the smoke. Cheetahkit felt her lungs ache and her feet burn. Ashes burned Cheetahkits face and pelt, smoke suffocating Cheetahkit. Cheetahkit felt herself slip into unconsciousness, but she wailed one last time for her sister. "Pebblekit, I'm sorry." Then Cheetahkit fell to the ground and let blackness consume her vision.
      Cheetahkit blinked open her eyes and found herself in the familiar surroundings of shadowd and fog, The Darkforest. Cheetahkit felt strength again in her muscles and lungs, padding foward Cheetahkt scanned her surroundings before a voice startled her.
    "Cheetahkit, it is not your time."
The familiar voice echoed
    "What do you mean Ravenshadow?"
Cheetahkit whispered as the faded figure of Ravenshadow stepped out of the fog.
    "You have a big destiny ahead of you little one, it is not your time to die."
   Ravenshadow answered firmly.
   "You need to wake up and find your sister."
Cheetahkit nodded her head sheepishly as Ravenshadow and the Darkforest faded around her. Cheetahkits eyes snapped open as her senses of pain and weariness from the fire returned to her. Cheetahkit wobbled to her feet huffing from the aching pain in her lungs and legs. Cheetahkit forced herself to go forwards again. Cheetahkit felt strength and determination return to her, so Cheetahkit broke into an unsteady run. Every breath was painful and threw off Cheetahkits stride, but she pushed onwards. Cheetahkit could hardly open her eyes, stinging from the ashes whiping her face. Cheetahkit croaked trying to make out a sentence. "Pebblekit!" but it was drowned in the roar of the fire. Cheetahkit felt waves of heat swallow her body as Cheetahkit drew nearer to the fire. Cheetahkit knew she had ran so far that Riverclan and most of the fire was far behind her now. Cheetahkit knew she was running in the right direction, she felt it. Burnning trees flashed past Cheetahkits vision as Cheetahkit used up the last drop of her strength from running. Cheetahkit stumbled to a stop, wheezing and coughing uncomfortably. Cheetahkit felt like she was going to die. She stumbled to the ground desperately drawing in uneven breaths, until she saw a figure in the distance. Hope flashing in Cheetahkit, she wobbled back to her feet. The burning trees made the figure lighter and more visible revealing that it was a cat. Cheetahkit stumbled fowards heaving in breaths and forcing her stinging eyes to stay open. "hello?" Cheetahkits voice was barely a whisper. The figure then turned and disappeared in the other direction. "no!" Cheetahkit wailed breaking into another hacking cough. Cheetahkit growled in determination and bounded fowards after the figure. After a few strides Cheetahkit finally broke through the smoke breathlessly. Cheetahkit gasped relieved to take in a breath of fresh air instead of smoke. the air was still thick with heat but it was better than the smothering smoke. Cheetahkit glanced up to see a huge boulder, dotted with ashes and surrounded by roaring fire in the distance. Cheetahkit scrambled fowards weakly, Cheetahkit gasped as she saw two figures on too of the boulder. Cheetahkit recognized Rainshine, but the other cat was an unfamiliar tom with similar spots to Cheetahkits. Cheetahkits ears twitched trying to listen to the conversation through the roaring fire.
"Pebblekit will love Shadowclan I promise, and this way, we can both have a kit of our own"
Cheetahkit gasped as she noticed the unconscious body of Pebblekit in Rainshines jaws.
"Very well Foxwing, take good care of her"
Rainshine nodded her head giving Pebblekit to Foxwing.
"I will, I wish your clan well from the fire."
Foxwing dipped his head before turning and disappearing down the other side of the boulder. Rainshine turned back around sadly.
"Rainshine!"
Cheetahkit wailed breathlessly before feeling exhaustion closing up her vision.
"Cheetahkit? is that you?"
Rainshine gasped spotting Cheetahkit. Cheetahkit felt blackness swallow her vision again.
"don't worry Cheetahkit, I will help you."
Rainshines soothing voice echoed in Cheetahkits ear one last time before she slipped into unconsciousness.
