Cheetahscar's Rage

•Chapter 9•

These herbs are for dressing wounds, I need some more of these, can you help me collect them?
      Rainshine pointed to a golden leaf of marigold. Cheetahkit nodded as Rainshine turned towards the half burned entrance of Riverclan.
     It had been a moon since Cheetahkit's encounter with her sister Pebblekit, and Riverclan returned to their original camp. Everyone worked together to rebuild the dens and damage, and Riverclan patrols marked the borders again. The gathering for every full moon was also tonight.
       It was early when Rainshine got Cheetahkit up to help her. Cheetahkit felt closer to Rainshine every day when she helped her.

     "Come on Cheetahkit!"
   Rainshine rolled her eyes as Cheetahkit just stood in her spot not following Rainshine.

     "Coming!"
     Cheetahkit remarked bounding after Rainshine through the camp entrance.
      Flamefur was ordering a dawn patrol as Cheetahkit and Rainshine padded past them. Rainshine lead Cheetahkit to the river where a ripe patch of marigold was growing. Cheetahkit bent down and picked it out of the ground. Rainshine then nodded and turned back towards Riverclan, it was a quick trip for marigold. As Rainshine and Cheetahkit entered Riverclan, half the clan had already awakened and started their duties. Cheetahkit dropped the Marigold at Rainshines den and turned towards the elders den for her next duties when a voice stopped her in her tracks.

     "let all cats old enough to swim gather before the willow tree for a clan meeting."
     Mistystar rasped.

    "Today is an exciting day, we are back in our rightful home and its time for a new apprentice in the apprentice den."
      Mistystar continued

     Cheetahkit's heart pounded in her chest wildly as Mistystar's gaze rested opon her.

    "Cheetahkit, step fowards."
      The Crowd of Riverclan cats parted for Cheetahkit to step forwards.

    "It is Cheetahkit's rightful time to become an apprentice."
      Mistystar smiled

    "Cheetahkit, from this day fowards, until you become a warrior, you will be known as Cheetahpaw."
        Mistystar continued.

     "You're mentor will be, Badgerpelt"
    Mistystar rasped, Cheetahpaw glanced over at Badgerpelt who had a shocked look smeared on his face. Cheetahpaw remembered that she had injured his son Adderpaw, Cheetahpaw shivered at his glare.

      "Badgerpelt, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Mintfur, and you have shown yourself to be courageous and strong. You will be the mentor of Cheetahpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her."
         Mistystar finishes as Cheetahpaw nervously touches noses with her new mentor.

       Then Cheetahpaw's clan mates start chanting. Moondust chants First and loudly

    "Cheetahpaw! Cheetahpaw!"

     Rainshine joins in following Applepaw, Rufflepaw, and Oakblaze. Then all three elders join in until the whole clan is chanting

    "Cheetahpaw! Cheetahpaw!"

    Cheetahpaw proudly raises her head high as Mistystar hops down from her place on top of the willow tree branch. Mistystar places her scarred white and gray muzzle on top of Cheetahpaw's head, Cheetahpaw in return respectfully licks Mistystar's shoulder.

     before the chanting fades out Adderpaw noticeably growls Cheetahpaw lowly before stomping towards the apprentice den. Rainshine glares at Adderpaw along with Sneezecloud and Quailfoot.
      Cheetahpaw ignores his ignorance, knowing that today was her special day and no one could ruin it. Then the chanting dies down completely and Mistystar acknowledges Cheetahpaw with a nod before turning away.
