"Hello?"

The phone rang loudly as she scurried to answer.

"Hello? This is Ruby Rose,"

"Ah! Miss. Rose. Fascinating to hear from you so soon."

"Haha, yes, but why did you bring us this?"

"The box?"

"Yes,"

"I was rummaging through files he asked me to give to you. One in particular was about Summer Rose. Her demise specifically."

"My mother's death?"

"Precisely."

She hesitated before she spoke to Oscar again.

"So, why did you give it to me?"

"Thought you might want to know that your mother didn't die by Grimm. She was murdered."

"Murdered? C-Can I speak to Professor Ozpin?"

Silence on the line before...

"Hello? Ah, Miss Rose. Good to hear from you."

"That's what he told me too. But how did you-why did you-"

"Extract her files?"

A whimpered, "Mhm," was heard from the line.

"Well Ruby, you see I wanted you to know she died by Salem's hand. She killed your mother in fear of how she could potentially eradicate Salem's plans to resurrect more Grimm to conquer Remnant. And she vowed to protect mankind."

Ruby went silent for a brief moment.

"I'll have to call you back,"

"Ruby? Ruby Rose?"

Btzzzzzzzzzzz.......

She didn't know how this could happen. She was a month away from giving birth and this wasn't what she wanted at all.

She decided to do something crazy but helpful. She needed to get this out of her head. So she picked up the scroll, and once it rang, she picked it up without hesitation.

"Hello?"

Her muffled cries were heard as she shook.

"D-Daddy?"

"I'll be right there."

She laid on his lap as he caressed her head; his aged fingers separating her hair.

"I'm scared," she said quivering.

Qrow looked at her and held her close. "It's alright Rose, I'll keep you safe."

He didn't ask about the files Os-pin had given them either. He just held his daughter in his embrace. Gently warming her porcelain cheeks.

She looked up and hugged him around his neck. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"For not giving up on me,"

Qrow smiled and kissed her head. His daughter had determination. But she also had heart.

A month later-

"She's still sleeping?" Yang objected.

Jaune looked worried for a minute. "She needs extra rest and more, right?"

"But we were going out today," Weiss complained.

"I'd be sleeping too if it weren't for you guys." Blake muttered from behind.

They'd dropped the kids at one person's house to watch them, since they didn't want them separated, and she agreed for how cute and adorable they were.

"Look at their little baby faces!" She squealed.

Ren rolled his eyes. "Okay,"

"Look at this one!" She said pointing to Wisp. "Or her!" Poking Rochelle. "Ooh! And he's super tough!" Booping Phoenix.

Nora jumped and burst with happiness. Ren wouldn't let her travel far in her condition, so she agreed to stay home and watch the kids. She loved anything small. Or adorable. She bounced around ignoring the triplets kicking and fussing, and played with the children in front of her. She couldn't wait to play with Ruby's baby next month too.

Yang sighed and trudged up the wooden staircase of the cabin. "Ruby?!" she called out.

Jaune took the problem and went to get her. She didn't want to get out of bed.

He went up the stairs and found her asleep in her bed. He smiled and pressed a hand to her forehead. Hot.

It wasn't uncommon for pregnant women to get fevers late near their end of the third trimester. He brushed it off and kissed her cheek. He fetched her an ice pack too, and when the coldness hit her head, Ruby's eyes opened and she smiled. "Thank you," she whispered.

Jaune replied by hugging her and telling her he'd be back soon. As soon as he could make it. Which to her disappointment was five hours. And within those hours, she'd face the most difficult thing in her life.

Oscar paced the copper hallways of the tower overlooking the city. He felt immense guilt and sorrow towards Mrs. Arc and Mrs. Rose. The rose for her death, and the younger blossoming one for the guilt. No one deserved to have their parent die on them when they were depended on for basic survival.

Ruby was a lone survivor of that passage. And as for what Oscar Pine would do next, he'd go on to fulfill his role as Os-Pin. Headmaster of the new and improved Beacon Academy. Standing proud for Vale and all of Remnant to see. Let them come. Vacuo. Atlas. Mistral. And the cities below them. Full of hopeful people with desires.

And as for Oscar, Ozpin would train him. To grow stronger. To protect them all. And to save a kingdom that will never be fated or bound to fall any longer. Call the hunters and huntresses, because Vale won't go down without a fight.

Nor will the spirits of split person and extreme hunter, Os-pin...

AN: Now I know I spelled Os-pin. Ozpin, with a 'z' is the headmaster, while Os-pin, with an 's' and hyphenated 'pin' is play on to show how he's two people at once. Intentionally done, not a spelling or keyboard error. Thankies and enjoy! ~RIRI_HOSEKI
