"It's all gnarled and mangled."

"More like warped and deformed."

"You're crazy Mercury."

"Am I?"

"What you did is unbelievably unforgivable."

"Hmm?"

"You know damn well! You knocked up that poor girl!"

He choked on his drink.

"No I didn't,"

"I hear she gave birth to your son. The grandchild of you know who."

"Raven-?"

"Don't say her name out loud you dweeb!"

"We need to tell her. Raven I mean."

"Stop saying her name! That phony Ozpin was able to grant the Branwen twins the powers that people would kill for. I want those. I want to kill the people who wronged me."

"You sound like Cinder-"

"I've awoken by your childish bickering. We have a different task at hand. I've gotten the feeling a silver eyed warrior was born. Emerald, you'll go check out her house. Mercury, you'll go talk to Raven. I'll go see what I can do for that icecreamed freak..."

"Hmm? Who?"

"Go now!"

With a quick bow, the pair separated off into opposite directions. Cinder sighed seeing them behave so undignified and childishly.

'Now to talk to Roman's gal pal. Who he chose so foolishly over me.'

"I'm exhausted,"

"Then get some rest."

He kissed her head and she laid down. Beside her was a small cradle that her son slept silently in. It's crazy to believe he was only born two hours ago.

Her thighs ached and her head felt like splitting. She had bitten her tongue, tasting the metallic iron of blood to prevent herself from screaming and alerting somebody nearby.

She sighed, relaxing her defeated body. With a loud groan, she fell back asleep into a position that was well deserving of her previous misery.

With a thud on the bed, she was ready to sleep. Then right as she closed her eyes, she heard the screeching shudder of the wooden door across the room.

She opened her eyes and groaned.

"Hey uh, Rose."

She realized that he'd never called her Rose for years. She immediately perked up and peered over from across the room. Qrow entered silently into her room, closing the door behind him.

She studied his expression slightly before laying back down.

He dragged a chair out from the computer desk, and sat down by the foot of the bed watching her.

"How are you holding up kiddo?" He asked.

She briefly yawned and sat up just a little bit. "Okay, I guess."

She had the urge to just shut down and sleep, but fought it off to hear what he had to say to her.

"Ruby, I want you to know I'm proud of you,"

"What? Why? I haven't done much lately."

"It's because of how you've been handling yourself. I'm happy that you're okay, and that you're safe and healthy. Stuff like that."

'Overprotective dad stuff is what he means. I just had a baby. Why is he saying all this?'

She examined his sore look and trembling body and took it as a sign of anxiety and nervousness.

Ruby sighed and looked up with a forced grin.

"I'm doing fine, we'll all be fine. I was gonna take a nap right now Dad. I'm kinda tired after all this."

His eyes grew big and he blushed embarrassed. "Yes that's right, I was going anyways."

Just as he stumbled out the door, he heard footsteps approaching, and sighed, relieved at who it was.

She heard whispering from the hallways, and saw the door open and close for a final time.

"Hi,"

She smiled and watched as he came back and sat down.

He looked beside their bed and gently rocked the bassinet. The newborn inside cooed and yawned. He genuinely smiled and picked the baby up, cradling him in his arms.

He swept the wisps of blond hair from his face, smiling from their uncanny similarity.

Ruby couldn't help but grin from all this. It was just what she dreamt. But even better.

Because she had Prim and Jaune here to share it with her.

"I can't stay around her child. I'll cause something to happen."

"That was a while ago. You can control it now. She's not Summer. You can't shut her out of your life."

"Why are you so good with pep talks?"

"Because Qrow, I raised her and Yang. I know a thing or two."

He smiled.

"Thank you, Tai."

He grinned and stood up. "I'll make dinner, so call down the girls and ask if they all want to stay."

He did as he asked, and when it was dinner, he was surprised to see his daughter walking down the stairs in all her glory. Carrying the small red bundle.

Gathered around the makeshift hall table, it felt like a huge family reunion. They pushed two long wooden tables together, and started collecting chairs to add around the table. Upon examining the dining room, there were plaques and crests on the mantle. One plaque in particular was carved straight from a 'certain' tree found at the site of Beacon. The tree was found on fire from a Grimm attack three weeks ago, and when Ruby checked where it was, she felt crushed.

In the middle was carved the Rose emblem with the Arc emblem under it. Between carvings were the letters R+J. The three girls around Ruby smiled. Since that point where Ruby had confessed her love under that maple tree, it was now a sister bond custom to do the same to honor. Weiss had a plaque in her home carved out of ice with W+N on it and their emblems. Yang had one in her house with XIAO LONG in big letters and her emblem in the background made of polished obsidian. Blake and Sun held one above the wall corner leading to the living room with FAUNAS on it in silver made out of steel.

As they all sat laughing and eating food, it was then that they had realized the strange noise at the door. Upon opening the door, her hand clutched the knob tightly. She eased the robotic limb and twisted the lock. The person at the door was what she saw the night Beacon fell.

Yang saw the true nature of reformed madness. A lusus naturae, or 'Freak of Nature'...
