The 1st Hunger Games - Introduction

District 1

I step down from the train platform and look around. I am so glad I'm the escort for district 1, not some other filthy district like 12 in particular. I have never been to any districts, but I have seen them on television and have been revolted by the state of them all. District 1 would probably be the cleanest and most welcoming, but nothing would compare to the Capital. After all, I have only accepted this job to gain attention.

As I walk onto the stage in front of the justice building I see thousands of possible tributes, all looking either scared, determined, annoyed or vengeful, some with mixed expressions between the four.

I walk towards the microphone and make my announcement...

"Good day to everyone, as you can see I, Elizabeth Edwards am the escort for district 1 and it is my greatest pleaser to announce the tributes for the very first hunger games! But first I will need to show you a video to explain all you will need to know."

*Video plays*

"Thank you for watching" l say, "and now let me announce the tributes: lady's first..."

I dig my hand into the glass bowl full of names and read off the piece of paper I have brought up.

"Sapphire Rose!"

A 15 year old girl of average height who has pale skin, long straight blonde hair pulled back in a high pony and dazzling blue eyes makes her way to the stage. I can tell she is trying to look strong, but is really fighting back tears. As she takes her place on the stage I announce the male tribute from the second glass bowl.

"Quartz Abberforth"

A 17 year old boy who is tall and strong with tanned skin and brown eyes pushes back his shortish blonde hair and walks confidently to the stage and takes his place.

"Thank you, thank you, and may the odds be ever in your favour!" I announce before I take the two tributes into the justice building to say their goodbyes.
