The 1st Hunger Games - Introduction

District 12

Ahh, yes today is the today! I've been waiting for what seems forever! As I walk to the stage I see many glum faces staring at me. Almost the whole district seems poverty stricken and the people very underfed. I did want to get a different district, but I guess this will have to do. I speak cheerfully while I am making the announcements, to try and lighten up the mood. It doesn't seem to work.

After the video and announcements I shuffle around the slips of names in the female tribute glass bowl. After a moment I bring out a slip and read out the name...

"Arianna Stone"

A girl from the 15 year old section section attempts to escape from the crowd. Not to the stage, to the opposite direction. Once she gets past the other girls her age she breaks into a run. She seems to be quite fast! Peacekeepers swarm from all over the place and attempt to run after, but their bulky suits restrict them. While this is happening a 15 year old boy shouts...

"Arianna! No!"

I am quite shocked at this act! Unsure of what to do I say...

"Well, while this inconvenience is clearing up I suppose I'll draw out the male tributes name".

I pull out the male tributes name...

"Connor Ford"

The same boy that yelled "Arianna! No!", actually runs to the stage. He has curly black hair, grey eyes and caramel skin. He seems to be about an average height, but is awfully skinny. He grabs the microphone out of my hand and yells straight at the tv cameras to say that Arianna would be at the very top of the tallest tree just inside the electric fence.

I am a little shocked at this whole scene, but it turns out Connor was telling the truth, and the peacekeepers are able to bring back Arianna to the stage, a little scratched, but otherwise ok. I notice she is quite short and also very skinny. She has shoulder length light brown hair worn half up, half down, grey eyes and olive skin.

The head peacekeeper announces that she will be publicly whipped on the stage right now, due to her rebellious actions.

I can't look as they pull out a whip and use it 10 times. Although I do notice that she has old scars on her back. This has happened to her before!

"May the odds be ever in your favour" I hurried to say as I run off myself, as soon as it is over.
