The 1st Hunger Games - Introduction

District 3

I don't really know how I feel about this district, I think as I walk onto the stage in front of the justice building in district 3. I mean they are all rather smart and provide us with technology which I know I would be unable to live without. Sometimes I think they may be a little to smart and have tricks up their sleeves and this haunts me a little to have to face this. They are always creating something new and inventive, even people in the Capitol may not know about.

I take in my surroundings; all children from 12 to 18 has been roped off in age groups and they all seem to be looking at their feet. The place is deadly silent. I announce myself and play the video. Everything is still silent and the whole district seems to hold their breath as I announce the female tribute...

"Alice Neal"

A little girl in the 12 year old section burst into tears. It was hard to believe she was actually 12, as she looks about 8. She is extremely small and skinny, she has light skin, red wavy hair which was worn out, and hazel eyes. The peacekeepers forced her to the stage and I have to admit that I felt a little sorry for her, but this is obviously the right thing to do.

The crowd is glaring at me as I dig my hand I to the glass bowl and pull out the name of the male tribute...

"Pascal Rodriquez"

From one age group to another! Pascal; a tall and lanky 18 year old with olive skin, black curly hair and green eyes under his glasses walks up to the stage not looking at anyone but me. I must admit that isn't the most comfortable feeling to be glared at by someone that could probably electricute me at any given time. So it quickly announce the end of the reaping and walk the two tributes into the justice building; but not before saying...

"May the odds be ever in your favour".
