❛❛A shattered mirror can be deceptive.❜❜
It all started with a cracked mirror.
Everything changed with a coincidence.
A mirror can't lie, that's what the onlooker thinks. But don't f...

What the heck just happened? Yeah, it had been nothing more than just a grin. An eccentric grin, full to the brim with fiendishness and evil triumph. But nevertheless, it was absurd. Why would someone grin like that to someone who had framed him? After all, Sanchez had also been taught to understand human behaviour and body language.
The thought of leaving the job left Sanchez's mind. His mind again became clear and calculating. He tried to put himself in Ross's shoes and made a mental list of how he must have been feeling when he had been released.
One, relief.
Two, hatred and anger for the one who framed him.
Three, either anger at the police for their incompetence, or admiration for the error correction. Most probably the former.
Four, the impulse to scoot from the police station (and possibly the crime scene) as fast as possible to minimize the possibility of landing in trouble ever again.
Then he started checking the points on his list.
One, Sanchez had not seen any visible relief on the guy's face after the release. Clearly, he must have been relieved for sure, but he had not shown it. His face had been just . . . just neutral. Not checked.
Two, again, the grin had been pure slyness and triumph. No hatred. No anger. For God's sake, who does that? Who gives a winning smile when you see your (unknown) captor himself captured? It had been no hide-and-seek game that Sanders had won. It had been a serious offence, framing someone like that. Sanders didn't even know Scott, as he claimed. Not checked.
Three, neither hatred nor admiration for the police. Once more, he had been just neutral. No nothing. Not checked.
Four, he had been calm and patient. No hurry. Hell, he even asked, 'Any paperwork, officer?' It had looked like he was doing his routine job. Like walking out of his home to go to work. Not checked.
So, yeah, it was weird. Damn weird.
He looked up and saw Clark. Which meant Clark had not gone to drop Sanders home.
'Clark, you didn't take Sanders home?'
'No. I offered, but someone was already there to pick him up. So I didn't ask much, let him leave.'
'Someone was there?' Sanchez was now sitting bolt upright.
'Yeah. Don't know who. I didn't walk Sanders to the car myself. I watched him go and sit in the front passenger seat.'
Sanchez knew it was time to take a decision. He stood up and said, 'Start the car. You're going on a tailing mission.'
