CLARA'S POV

I was standing in my room beside my grandmother, who fell ill this morning. It became worst this afternoon that I had to come rushing back home, when I arrived home mom was already there with a famous local doctor who helped every sick person in swellville. Dad and Ariana was no where to be found I'm sure dad must be busy but Arianna? Where could she have gone to? She was always with mom so where could she be?

" mom where could Ariana have gone to?"

" oh well she went somewhere with Diego " she said smiling lightly, and then turn to face the doctor who was still checking on grandma.

" what? I mean why did you let her? " I asked, not that I like Diego but still, it's the first time she let her out of her side for this long, it's 4:30 already.

" and why not? I thought you didn't care about Ariana or is it that deep down inside of you, you can't see anyone with Diego, is it possible that you like him?" Mom said tilting her head to one side. What?

" of course not mom never!" I hissed at her, how could she think that about me? " I think it's good if they spend some time together, they deserve each other actually" I said casually.

" well good, cause really? Diego is the last person your dad and I would want for you" she said looking serious, I don't know why but deep down it hurt me badly. I couldn't like Diego in that way now or do I? uuurgh! I need some air, With that I left and went outside.

When I reached outside, I saw the most beautiful car ever only one person was on my mind, the king! But what is he doing in front of our small house? Maybe he came to look for me, after all a ball is to be held next week, maybe he wants me to be his date. A smile made it's way to my face at the thought. I wanted to go closer to the car when it revised back and my smile died down. I don't get it, rumours heard it that at the ball he will have to choose a bride and I thought that him coming here was to ask my hand in marriage but here he was again leaving me disappointed, if I don't get married to him then I don't think that anyone will, I growled angrily and went back inside.

" mom the king was just here" I said to my mom who just glared at me. What have I done now?

" tell me about it once the doctor leaves " she said, and look back at the doc. who was about to tell us what was wrong with my grandma, hope she's fine cause me and her get along so well. She always thought me how to be devious, intelligent, very corny and most importantly very smart. All the things I know today the credit goes to her, we were now in the living room.

" well Mrs Davis, you mother in law is very ill and you will have to bring her to the village's clinic so that I can examine her properly, I tell you right now that her condition is getting worst by the day " the doctor said, I didn't expect that she would be this ill for her to be brought to the clinic, grandma had always been vary though, I wonder if she will pull through?. At that moment a loud gasp was heard, we all turned to see Ariana at the door way with her hands on her mouth, her eyes were wide open, bitch! as if she cares.

" where in the world have you been?" I snapped at Ariana who can't seem to get over the shock of what she just heard.

" I'm talking to yo- " I said but mom cut me off, I hate it when she does that.

" Clara that's enough please" mom said, I turned to look at her and she was in tears, not now really, I went to her and hugged her.

" mom it's OK, grandma is a fighter I know she would be fine, nothing will happen to her " I said trying to comfort her, I felt someone joined our hug and when I turned to face the person, I saw that it was Ariana she was also in tears, I wanted to push her away but I didn't because of mom.

" everything will be fine aunt, you don't have to worry about anything as Clara had said, grandmother is a fighter she'll be fine, we have to be strong for her right now OK?" Ariana said after she broke the hug, I hate her so much cause I know that she is just pretending trying to get on mom's good side, and mom seems to fall for it.

" OK my dear, thanks so much" mom said to Ariana, like I wasn't here. Didn't I also said some comforting words? OK maybe I'm overreacting.

" don't thank me aunt, we're a family right? " she asked and mom nodded," come on let's take her to the clinic right away" Ariana finished, uurgh! I can't take this anymore.

" wait Ariana, you don't have any right to decide here OK?, she's my grandmother and not yours, so stop fucking trying to act as if you care cause I know you don't" I finished, I've been wanting to say that all day, just then I felt something hard on my cheek. That was when I noticed that mom slapped me.

" enough Clara! That's enough " mom yelled at me for the first time, for the first time she raised her hand on me, for the first time she looked at me as if I was a worthless child, I felt like crying, tears were in my eyes but then I left and went out before it fell.

ARIANA'S POV

Wow! That was an outburst that I wasn't looking out for. What did she mean by saying that grandma wasn't my grandmother? I mean I had my doubts on whether I belong here or not but looks like Clara just confirmed it this evening.... I don't belong here.
What even bothered me most right now was when aunt screamed 'enough' at Clara, it was as if this scene had happened in my life before, I just can't put the pieces together why can't I remember already.

" Ariana I'm really sorry about this, I couldn't let her speak to you that way, I'll just call some neighbors so that we can take grandma to the clinic " aunt was saying but I said something that made her stop on her tracks.

" am not your niece am i aunt?" I asked her, I couldn't stop myself I have to know the truth even if now was not the right time

" what are you saying my dear? Of course I'm your-" I cut her off by putting my hand up to stop her, tears were in my eyes now.

" please aunty no more lies, just the truth please" I pleaded, I couldn't stop the tears anymore. " I promise that I'll understand why you did it, no matter what I could never get angry at you, you saved my life and for that I'll forever be in dept to you"

She exhaled and a lone tear left her eye, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath " I don't belong in your family right? I'm not your niece right?" I asked and she nodded, it was as if my world had come crushing down, why can't my life be normal? Why me? I started to sob really hard, where could my family be? Am I the only one in the family left in this world? Are they looking for me? Maybe they think I'm dead. So many emotions and questions filled my head that I couldn't take it anymore, everything started to spin around me, I saw aunt coming towards me before everything went black.
