chapter thirty

I couldn't believe what I'm witnessing right now, what are they trying to say? Did the king say something to them? I don't exactly know what's going on but what I know is that i don't like it one bit. Monica was still busy drying my hands with the towel, I looked at her with teary eyes.

" that's enough!" I said while removing my hand from hers, she jerked her head towards me in surprise, by now all the maidens had stopped working and they were busy looking at us. What a show we were putting on right now, I hate the attention.

" what are you doing? And why are you behaving this way? " I asked, trying not to look angry but I guess it was pretty obvious that I was.

" you don't understand Ari.. I mean my lady " she started, I felt hurt as she called me that. I've never felt so odd in my life, she continued, " the King gave strict instructions that you should be referred as 'lady' now, anyone who disobey him will get fired. And he meant every word" she finished as more tears rolled down her cheeks, I looked taken aback by this, I can't believe he threatened them for something so not important.

" OK fine I understand what he's trying to do, but that doesn't mean that you are included, you're my best friend " I said smiling at her while I took her hands in mine, she shook her head in disagreement.

" no! I can't disobey him, he is a king he can't be disobeyed and as his loyal servant I have to obey him. I hope you understand, look it doesn't make a difference, we're still best friends right?" She asked me with hope in her eyes that I wouldn't say no. I just nodded not trusting my words and we hugged each other, Mrs Lina was smiling at us now, I just hope that nothing changes. Someone cleared their throat and this made me break the hug, wanting to see who it was.

" You know for a king's fiancé, you should be the one telling the servants that they should never disobey him, but in your case it's the other way round " kaila said standing in front of me with her arms crossed, she glared at me all the way.

" what are you all looking at? Get back to work!" She hissed at all the servants, Monica gave me a small nod and went back to her choirs, so did the rest of the maidens. Mrs Lina left the kitchen, probably because she can't stand kaila.

" I knew that you can't be up to the task, it's just not for people like you. What I'll do is Wait till the king finally realize that you are not meant for him, that time he will come running back to me" she said smirking, I just stared at her blankly and then I shrugged at her, this made her looked shocked at my reaction.

" well I really don't have much to say, the only thing I can advise you is that you shouldn't wait for him for too long cause you might just end up alone while waiting. He can be with whoever he wants, it's his life, I don't care " I said to her, she looked bewildered by my reply. The last thing I want is to look weak in her presence, it's better if she thinks that the king have no much effect on me that way her plans to hurt me will be ruined. I don't know where I found the courage to say it but I'm glad I did, I guess love changes a person, sometimes it turns the bad to good and the weak to strong.

" so you don't care about him then, I knew that you were just pretending to love him, the truth is that you don't you're just after his money, am I right? I've  figured you out Ari, you are so devious" she finished and I shrugged at her again looking casual.

" You know kaila, you can think whatever you want, like i said before, I. don't. care! " I finished. I really don't care what she thinks of me, what I know is that my love for the king is true, and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me since I woke up from the coma. Wait! Why am I even wasting my time talking to her? I wanted to go out of the kitchen when she said something and I stopped on my tracks, what made my heart stop was that there at the door stood the king. Crap!
