I quickly leapt up from my spot on the floor as my father started his countdown to door destruction. Scrambling to unlock the door, I quickly flung it open with my hands in the air. "Woah, woah, woah calm down, I'm okay Dad!" I soothed as I walked out from the closet.
Dad lowered his hammer as he looked down on me in disapproval, "Addaline, child, what on Midgaurd are you doing hiding in a closet?"
Tony was glancing around Thor suspiciously, "Yeah what are you doing in there? Is there a boy in there? Seven minutes in Heaven? Adda, you naughty, naughty girl."
At Tony's prompting, Dad pulled me forward and moved quickly to investigate the contents of the small closet.
"No!," I replied quickly, "Jeez, where am I even supposed to meet someone my age? I'm on a secret flying government base for Pete's sake!" I rolled my eyes as my father's head peeped back around the door.
"Who is Pete? I shall challenge him to assess his honor!"
I smacked my hand against my forehead as I let out a groan. "It's an midguardian expression Dad, and Tony is just teasing you. There was no boy in that closet. I was mind-linking Uncle to assure myself of his wellbeing. Oh, and Grandmother promised to teach me more magic so I am expecting a trip to Asgard very soon thank you very much!"
My father simply balked at my admission, not knowing which part to address first, the sake of Pete or the fact that my powers had gotten strong enough to pull my end of the link between my uncle and I.
"Adda, you managed to pinpoint Loki's location?" Steve asked with squared shoulders beside Tony.
"Yeah, it took me a while, and I couldn't shield myself so I was pretty much out in the open, but yeah."
Captain Rogers looked impressed, while Tony looked calculating. Dad, on the other hand, looked immensely proud.
"My Addaline Girl alright, using magic as if it's child play. That's my darling!"
My cheeks blushed with the praise, I decided right then and there that if I could continue to make the important people in my life proud and happy, then that's all that mattered.
"Uncle seemed alright, by the way. Since I didn't know how to cloak myself, Frigga found us. Loki convinced her to help keep Odin busy while he found what he needed. He mentioned daggers, knives as in plural, which I'm excited about." I looked around at our little group, noticing a certain red head and bird boy missing. "Where's Nat and Clint? I was wanting to see if they would train with me using two daggers, so I could be ahead of the game when Loki delivers them!"
My father and Steve chuckled at my sudden excitement, "I'm sure there already in the training room waiting for you, they are good like that." Steve responded.
"Cool. I'm gonna go change and meet up with them!" Unfortunately, I turned too quick and got a little light headed, stumbling over my feet.
"Adda maybe you should rest first, using magic your first time can be hard on your body." Dad gently grabbed my elbow, steadying me as my vision righted itself.
"I'm fine Dad, honestly, I just turned a little too quickly. Please, no more down time I'm going crazy!" I begged. I swear if I see the inside of a hospital room one more time...
"Alright," my father relented, "but if you begin to feel the least bit dizzy again promise me you will return to your quarters and rest."
"Yes Dad, of course, I promise, no problem." I called over my shoulder as I sprinted down the hallway to my room to change.
After the quickest outfit change of my life, I sprinted to the training room. Sure enough, Natasha and Clint were already waiting for me with and assortment of daggers in varying shapes and sized. I smirked as I walked towards them, "I'll never understand how you two are always at least three steps ahead at all times."
Nat and Clint simply smirked at each other before Nat responded, "It's a gift."
I trained for a solid three hours before I was so sweaty it looked like I had hiked a mile in the desert. Clint finally called it after I had got a solid whack to his forearm with one of the training blades. He let out a string of curses before throwing his hands up, surrendering.
"That's as good as you're gonna get with the training blades. It will be a whole different ball game when it comes to your actually daggers. The smallest weight difference can change everything." Natasha spoke as she handed my water bottle. I was currently spread-eagled on the training mat with no plans on moving any time soon.
"O...Kay...," I huffed, out of breath as my lungs refused to inhale sufficient air.
When I returned to my room that evening, I was only slightly surprised to find a pair of silver daggers with sapphire embellishments lying peacefully on my bed. I smiled as I held them in my hands, their weight distributed perfectly, admiring the hum they made as I slashed them through the air. Loki had also thoughtfully included a utility belt for both my waist and back. On the waist belt, I was surprised to find a number of small kunai knives. My grin stretched wider and wider, everything about the weapons felt right. I felt like they had been a part of me all my life. Underneath it all, Loki had left me a hand-written letter:
Dearest Addaline,
I hope these are sufficient for your training. These daggers are older than even your father and I, and have a habit of picking their owner, and not the other way around. If I assume correctly, their weight should be perfect in your petite hands. Perks of magic weaponry. The small kunai knives have no magic potency, but could come handy in battle. Train hard, young niece, the fight coming forth will require not only your skills, but also your heart. I only hope I will not be the source of your distress, but I have not much say in the matter.
Your loving uncle,
Loki

So.... There's an update. Readers: I am so incredibly sorry it took my so long to update, and probably will take me forever to update again, as I don't remember where this story was even headed. Things have changed for me, I sort of disappointed a majority of my family and withdrew from nursing school and decided to major in Sociology instead. My focus is on equality for different ethnicities, and that doesn't fly well when a majority of my small midwestern family is extremely racist. But oh well, I'm doing what I love and what makes me happy. Let's hope this newfound courage inspires some writing ideas! I just wanna say one last time, thank you to the readers who have stuck around, y'all amaze me! Love you guys!
iAdios!
