The next town I made it to was busy. People all over the streets. I think this town is over populated. Something seemed strange. I didn't know what, but this town gave off a weird vibe. I feel like I should get out of this town quick. I started to push through the crowd they were watching something.
I tried to get closer to the front where what ever was going on. When i got to the front, I saw... Alex. was this just a dream again, or was this real. He was there giving a speech about tea and coffee. Telling them that coffee is bad and tea is good. So he still remembers me.
I waited till after he was done with his speech. Then I went up to him.
"Hi, Alex."
He just stared at me.
"Do I know you? Oh you must be one of the people in the crowd who liked my speech."
"Well, yes. But we've met before."
"Uh, well this is the first town I have said my speech in so..."
"Alex, it's me. Kira."
He stood in amazement.
"You're kidding. You're not Kira."
"Yes I am. I only had one friend know one else knew me besides you, my sister, and my uncle."
"Wow, you've changed. You want to go get some tea?"
"Yeah, I'd like that."
Alex and I went to a small cafe that wasn't as crowded as all the other ones. We got some tea and sat down.
"So how have you been."
"Okay, I guess. Why are you this far out of town? I mean I know about the fire, but I thought your sister, uncle and you would stay at a hotel."
"Well, I kinda can't trust my uncle any more. And I can't see my sister anymore."
"Why, did your uncle take your sister somewhere else?"
"No, it's much worse."
I told him the whole story just like I did with Scarlet. He listened to every word. And he understood.
"You need to let me go with you. You know, to help."
"I can't put you at the risk of getting hurt."
"Please, I'm your friend, and I can fend for myself if something happens."
"Please don't make this harder than it already is, Alex."
"I know you care about people, but I do too. And right now, I care about you."
He really does care. He's so kind hearted, but I still don't want him to get hurt.
"You can't, okay? I just don't want to be the reason you get hurt. I have to go."
I got up and was about to leave when he grabbed my wrist.
"I know and I don't want to think of you getting hurt out there and having no one to help you."
I just stared at him. Why did he have to make it so hard for me to leave.
"No."
He let go of my hand and I ran out the door. Tears began to swell in my eyes, but I wiped them away. I grabbed my things and kept on going. I really don't want him to be worried about me, but I didn't want to worry about him getting hurt. I had to say no.
