Del was screaming in fear and pain. I slip on my shoes and ran out the door. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. The table is a mile away, but I have to try. I have to take care of my sister. It's my responsibility to protect her. Tears continued to pour down my face as I ran as fast as my feet would go.
I could see fire just ahead. Was I to late? Or did I make it? I wasn't sure, but I didn't stop running.
I was about five yards from the stone table when I stopped. They didn't see me. On one side of the table was Peter who had his eyes closed and was saying the words in the book. On the other side of the table was the woman from the market. She was holding the gold ribbon over Del's face trying to keep her distracted.
"Leave Del alone! Don't hurt her!" I yelled as I started to run again.
The women distracting Del looked at me. She used her power and pushed me back. She didn't use her full power, so I wasn't pushed back as far as I was at the market. I got back up.
"Now give me your power!"
Del started to scream in pain. It was way louder then it was when she called out to me. I ran as fast as I could, but I feared I was too late. I pushed the woman first. Then I went to the other side of the table and pushed Peter. I started to unstrap Del's arms and legs when something else had pushed Peter and the woman even farther back. Del was still screaming in pain. I jumped up on the table and held her in my arms as her screaming calmed down.
"Del, don't die. I can't lose you too. You're all I have left," I said through the tears that streamed down my face as I watched Del's life fade.
"What do you mean? How are you losing me too, Kira? Who else have you lost?"
I looked at her sweet innocent face. I didn't want to tell her that our parents died in a fire. But I can't ignore her.
"Mom and dad... died in a fire Del. A horrible house fire. And I was supposed to protect you from all harm. And... and I failed."
"But, I thought they were on a trip."
"No Del. there gone. And now I'll be alone without you."
"I don't want you to be alone, Kira."
"I don't want to be alone either, Del."
"Why? Why would Uncle Peter do this to us?"
"I don't know. But what I do know is that he is a selfish man."
Tears started to escape Del's eyes to. She was nearly gone.
"I love you, Kira."
"I love you too... Delila."
"You called me Delila."
"You're not a little girl anymore. You're nine."
Del gave one last smile as her eyes slowly closed. Then she was gone. As even more tears started pouring down my face, Del turned into gold glistening sparkles. The sparkles covered me, then I started to feel a sharp pain run all through me. I screamed in pain. Then everything went black.
