"I'm bored," Brooks groaned the second Tom picked up the phone, flopping backwards onto her bed and staring up at the ceiling. "Can't you come back already?"

"Well, hello to you too, Brooklynn," came Tom's response. "I've only been gone for two weeks. I'll be flying back in three more. You'll survive."

"I don't think I will," Brooks said, turning her head to look out the window of her bedroom. "I think hanging out with you has turned me boring."

Tom laughed. "I think I made your life so interesting, that going back to the way it was without me just seems boring."

"You think highly of yourself."

"Yeah, but you think highly of me, too," he said. "Why don't you go bother Lucie or something?"

"It's raining," she sighed, "And I'm waiting for Nick to get here."

"Nick?"

"Robinson. He's never seen Beetlejuice, so I'm making him watch it."

"He's never seen Beetlejuice? How?"

"Beats me." She shrugged. "I miss having you around. You always know what I'm talking about, even when I don't know."

"I have Brooks-inclined superpowers," he chuckled. "I miss having you around, too. Harrison says I keep whining."

"Being without me is something worth whining about," she hummed. "I'm a delight."

"You mispronounced 'pain in the ass'."

"Oh, bugger off!"

"Ooh, look who's picking up British terms! I'm so proud of you!"

"I wish you were dead."

"You love me, don't lie."

"You mispronounced hate."

"Sure I did."

Knocking drew Brooks' attention to her open bedroom door, through which she could see the door of her apartment. "I've got to go, I think Nick just got here."

"Alright, have fun watching Beetlejuice. Don't miss me too much."

"I already miss you too much."

CALL ENDED.
