"Why so down?"
Ashton and Luke usually shared a hotel room when they were away. Luke loved it, Ashton wanted Luke far away from him. Something about Luke just easily ticked Ashton off. Like how Luke currently sat in his double bed, clearly moping around, waiting for Ashton's eyes to pry off the Rolling Stone issue he was reading and ask what was wrong. Luke's neediness was what bothered Ashton. But Ashton caved in to it every single time because he loved his friend.
"I'm fine." Luke sighed dramatically.
It was about three in the morning. Neither of them were going to sleep any time soon due to jet lag, but Luke still made himself comfortable under the blankets of his bed. There wasn't much else for him to do besides lie there and pout. The antennas on the TV didn't catch any channels and playing music would disturb Ashton's reading about what Madonna would do next to shock the world.
"Oh honey, we all know when Luke says he's fine, he really isn't." Ashton marked the page he was reading with his forefinger. "So, start talking."
"Never call me honey again."
"We'll see."
"I just don't understand why I feel so connected to Arabella the way I do. I know she hates my guts and would rather talk to a tree instead of talking to me." Luke pulled his fingers through his curls. He was so frustrated. "It's so confusing."
Ashton scoffed. He couldn't believe his friend was so strung up over a girl. There were plenty of them in the world that would pay attention to Luke anyway. So, so what if one didn't want to give him the time of day? "It's probably just a silly crush. We all get them sometimes. They fade away with time and we look back and think about how stupid and embarrassing it was that we had a crush on that person."
"I'm an adult, Ash. I don't have crushes." Luke corrected. He flipped to his back so he could stare at the ceiling, hoping the ceiling would give him some answers.
"Debatable." Ashton rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't rule anyone out just because of their age."
"You frustrate me."
"It's a good thing we'll be on tour for a year together." Ashton teased, opening his magazine to continue his reading. "Plenty more frustration to come your way."
Rolling Stone said that Madonna would most likely come forth and shock everyone during the Video Music Awards this year. They said there was a seventy-six percent change she was planning for that occasion because it all worked out perfectly. The whole world would be watching and it was the perfect moment to get the whole world talking. It made Ashton think of what he and the band could do. What could possibly top Madonna? What would make the world talk? What would have them on the cover of every magazine? Luke would probably have to tongue kiss a monkey on stage to get people talking. Maybe that would fulfill his odd desire to have Arabella.
"Is it too late to drop out?" Luke thought out loud.
"You're under contract, honey."
