Luke was a good listener, at least he appeared to be. Something in the back of Arabella's mind kept persuading her not to allow herself to get close to him because she'd regret it without a doubt. He could possibly mean well, but people were always full of surprises. Arabella knew that very well with a few people like her boyfriend Andy. They loved each other, sometimes distantly, but their relationship was never the best. It was the typical on again, off again situation that nobody liked to go through or hear about. Their relationship hadn't been the same since Arabella had signed to a record label and began touring and spending most of her time away from home. Andy found new ways to entertain himself while Arabella was gone and Arabella still found herself attempting to make the relationship work. But it would never work with the highs of Arabella's life and the lows that Andy had turned towards. So Arabella knew very well how people could switch up on her in a second. She didn't want to take a chance here with Luke.
"What do you think about Australia so far?" Luke questioned. Arabella finally snapped out of the daze she was in, realizing that Liz had walked away, leaving Luke and her alone. There wasn't much else she felt she needed to say to Luke. In fact, realizing their conversation was one-on-one made her anxious down to her bones. There weren't many people she felt she could comfortably talk to. Knowing that Luke was on some mission to get to know her, made her feel even more uncomfortable letting him in.
"Uh...it's okay." Arabella shifted back into her typical closed off character and hoped he'd walk away because she couldn't bring herself to do it. She was one of the nicest anti-social people anyone would meet.
"What does the 'S' on your necklace stand for?"
He pointed to the silver circle initial pendant necklace that hung on her neck. She wore this necklace every day and the band started to believe it was attached to her.
"Summer...it's my mom's name." She was a terrible liar, then again he most likely didn't catch on since they didn't really know each other and he was going to take whatever he possibly could get out of her. She knew what the initial stood for, so did her band mates, she never thought it was anyone else's business to know what it meant. For someone who lived such a high profile life, she had so many secrets. She liked it that way. Occasionally, she'd read a tabloid about herself, stating one hundred lies because they didn't know the real her. She was a bitch, she was a snob, she was ungrateful. She was every negative thing in the book to these random people that didn't even know her. Sometimes it hurt, but she had enough of a backbone to not let it bother her at night when she lied down to rest.
Luke nodded and complimented the random name Arabella thought up in the moment, before he began talking about different tourist things to do in Sydney. It seemed pointless for her to listen, they wouldn't be in Australia nearly long enough for them to even regulate their sleep schedules, so they definitely wouldn't have time to prance around every city, making more memories than they could remember. Ricky had flipped through numerous books during his downtime that were for places the bands would be visiting. He also had a list of things he wanted to see and do while they traveled, but no one had the heart to tell him they wouldn't have the time to do any of those things. They'd let disappointment creep upon him by itself.
Arabella weaved her attention in and out of the conversation, only accidentally weaving out and purposely forcing herself back in. She tried making mental notes of the places Luke mentioned, but she knew herself well enough to know she'd forget all of these things as soon as she lied down later. She'd probably just blame it on old age making her memory bad.
"But yeah, I think you'd have a good time if you checked out all those places." Luke finished, cracking a nervous smile. He hated himself for speaking so much in such weird and inappropriate times.
"Hopefully there's time." Arabella gave a curt nod to Luke.
