September 2, 1984 - London
Kosmic was on set to film a music video for their new single Sleeping With A Friend. The location was at some warehouse that was in a shady party of town, mainly because it would be easier to keep the video under wraps in such a beat down area.
"And cut!" The director called out as Arabella finished her last round of close-up shots.
"Thank you!" Arabella shook the hand of the director, giving a gratuitous smile. Then she walked off to Luke, kissing his cheek.
The 5SOS guys decided to hang around the set while Kosmic filmed the video.
"I'm gonna need Jax now!" The director yelled out to his assistant who then ran off with a clipboard in hand.
"You did good on the song, Haze." Arabella now stood next to the older girl further off set. "It's gonna be a hit."
"Eh, it's all right." Haze shrugged with a smirk on her face, trying to stay humble.
"Don't get a big head now." Arabella rolled her eyes, turning her attention back to Jax, who looked very uncomfortable doing his close-ups. "I could use a smoke."
"Lets go."
The girls walked out in the back alley of the warehouse after making sure they told Ian they were taking a breather outside. Inside was packed with people running around and it was chaos neither girl wanted to anxiously wait through until they were needed again.
Day 2 in London had been pretty busy since 3 o'clock in the morning but they certainly weren't complaining because no one wanted to actually rest. Everyone seemed to be running on adrenaline from all of the shows they had played so far.
"Have you been all right?" Arabella questioned her friend. She had realized that Haze was being quieter than usual and if she spoke she was very irritable.
"Yeah, just tired that's all." Haze was picking at her fingers, leaning against a concrete wall as Arabella smoked. "I guess I'm slowly coming down from the high of everything going on."
"Are you sure?"
"Mhm, yeah." She nodded.
Arabella wasn't going to take Haze's word because she knew something was wrong but she wasn't going to pry it out of her friend, so she just dropped the subject.
After a few seconds of some silence the air filled with a girl's giddy laughter.
"Did you hear that?" Arabella's eyebrows drew in as she blew out smoke.
"No, what was it?"
"Someone was laughing...?" Arabella turned her head to where the laughter came from but saw no one. "We should go check it out."
"We shouldn't!"
"Why not?"
"Ara, we're in a shady part of London, do you want to get killed?!" Haze exclaimed.
"Come on! Nothing's gonna happen!" Arabella grabbed her friend's hand, interlocking their fingers as they walked down the alley.
"Lets just go back inside."
Arabella hushed her friend before slowly their steps to quietly check around the corner. Arabella peeked over to see a girl with pastel purple hair that was covered by a black beanie and saw a familiar head of golden curls backing the girl into a wall and locking their lips. Arabella's eyes widened at the sight. Ashton was in an intense lip-lock with a mystery girl.
"Um, lets go back." Arabella turned around, dragging her friend with her.
"What? Why? What did you see?" Haze paced up her steps because it felt like Arabella was trying to rip her arm out of it's socket.
"There wasn't anything." Arabella kept her attention ahead, not bothering to look her friend in the eyes.
"Ara," Haze pulled her hand out of Arabella's, stopping in her tracks. "Don't you fucking lie to me."
"It was nothing, I promise." Arabella sighed.
"If it was nothing then look me in the eyes and tell me it was nothing." She said angrily behind her teeth.
Arabella's gaze dropped to the floor.
"It was Ashton..." She looked at Haze. "He had a girl backed into the wall and they were kissing..."
Arabella's stomach dropped when she saw Haze's expression fall. Arabella knew how much Haze liked Ashton and she thought she knew how much Ashton liked Haze in return. She didn't understand why Ashton hadn't gotten the balls to make things official with Haze despite their constant flirting and hooking up behind everyone's back but this, this made things clear. Ashton didn't want anything official with Haze because he had a secret girlfriend waiting for him in England.
"Just my luck." Haze sniffled, wiping away her tears. "It's whatever." She pulled her sleeves of her sweater down, dabbing the wetness under eyes and began walking back to the entrance of the warehouse.
"Look, Haze," Arabella caught up. "I'll talk to Luke about it and we'll fix this."
"What's there to fix? Ashton and I were never broken."
