Danny POV
As I walk out the room where Emily was I couldn't but stop and have a moment of silence. I had to thank the man upstairs, my lucky stars, the zodiac signs, and well basically anyone or anything else that's making it possible that she is still alive and with me.
As I finish up and round the corner back to the waiting room I see a bunch of cops.
"What in the world is going on? I hope it's not because of Collin punching me." I say to myself as I get closer to the scene.
Just then I hear my name being said. "Mr. Rhiner, please I need to talk to you." I look at the man next to me and I nod my head. "Great, let's sit and talk." He said and I don't question him, I just obey. I don't want any trouble to happen while this nightmare is still happening.
I see a cop with my bloody clothes in it. That's when I realized this wasn't about Collin punching me, it's about Emily being shot.
"Excuse me, but who are you and what's with all the cops?" I ask him as I notice just about every one of my family members is talking to one, even the children.
"Oh excuse me. My name is Detective Norman Tinn. The other cops are here to take down witness statements from your family members and also any staff or emergency personnel that came into contact with your wife and the scene of the crime."
"We didn't call the police."
If there's one thing you learn when you're rich and powerful is that cops can be paid off and also the less they know the less they will bother you.
In the business world a lot of under the table deals go down and some can be illegal. So people of power think that they are above the law. Most are because they buy off the cops and anyone associated with the law.
My dad is as legal as they come, but he has dealt with people who lets just say don't follow the rules most of the time. My dad only conducts legal business and has taught me how to see when someone is not with good old Uncle Sam.
I've also learned that cops bring in attention, unwanted attention and that you can't always trust them and to never go out and find them.
So again why are the cops here and who called them?
"Well Mr. Rhiner according to the 911 call there was mention of a shooting and we have to investigate to find the person who do this." Detective Tinn said to me and all I could was recall the moments that I realized I wasn't a god, superman, or even a hero to stop whoever did this to her and was unable to save Emily from being shot.
Those are the scariest moments of my life, the memories will always haunt me of how I almost lost my sunshine.
"Oh, well what all do you need?" If he's here about Emily I have to help. She doesn't deserve to be in the hospital bed.
"Well, I would like for you to just tell me everything that happened when-" he said and then he looked down at some notes he had written. "Ah yes, when you ran after Emily leaving your family inside the restaurant."
All of sudden a wave of emotions came over me. I felt like I was in another world for a moment. I couldn't catch my breath and I had to find the nearest seat. The memory of her bloody body in my arms was all that was coming to mind. Maybe he should go and talk to Collin.
I sat there trying to slow down my heart from racing and trying to find my voice. I wanted to cry again, I didn't want to talk about it, hell I could barely contain my emotions when I would think about it.
I had to say something, I had to. I just had too for the sake of my wife and children. I look up and the detective is staring at me waiting for me to speak. I look at his hand and he's ready to write, now all I have to do is speak.
