Chapter 18

Danny POV

I look out the window of my office to view the world beneath me. I see everyone trying to finish up their holiday preparation for Thanksgiving. I can see the color change in the foliage in the trees that line the sidewalks below.

"Just last year she was a random girl I found and was faking a realtionship with, but now she is my wife and the mother to my kids. How things can change from year to year." I think to myself as I watch the people's interaction from my window view.

Tomorrow we are having our simple family and friends get together Thanksgiving dinner since everyone including us will be at other family's houses for the actual Thanksgiving holiday.

I know she wanted to have this to celebrate it at our house and to experience it as a true family. I know that this year is a huge change for all of us compared to last year. I'm thankful for the new friends I have gained and the sense of family I feel when I'm around them.

I know that no matter what life throws at us, they will be there to help and support Emily and Collin no matter what. Knowing this puts me at ease when I have to travel for work and to know that if something happens to me they will be taken care of buy not only my family.

I was lost in my thoughts when I hear a knocking at my door. Not really thinking I call out "Come in!".

I turn to see who was at my door and there was Taylor walking in and putting files on my desk.

"Are you finished for the day?" I ask him as he sits down in a chair.

"Yeah thankfully, I dont think I could go one more hour."

"Why? The workload hasn't been that heavy for you to be staying long nights at the office." I tell him as I recall the past few nights of him leaving before me as I pulled all the long nights by myself here at the office.

"All the stress with the holidays." He tells me as he pulls out his phone.

I gave this odd look and laughed. "What in the world are you talking about? You are coming to my house tomorrow and then on Thanksgiving you are going to your parents house. Why stress do you have when both meals are being made for you?" I say as I sit down in my office chair.

He put his phone down and readjusted himself in the chair. "I'm introducing Louis to everyone for the first time. I'm such a nervous wreck that I haven't been able to sleep for the past few nights."

"Oh yeah, so did you decide on how you're going to introduce him? Boyfriend or just friend?"

"I am still not sure and that's also part of the stress and worry I'm having lately." He tells me as he let's out a big sigh.

"Taylor, how does Louis feel about all of this?" I ask him and he just shrugs his shoulders. "Taylor I'm serious, how does Louis feel about it all?" I ask him again.

"I dont know. He doesn't look or act as worried as I am but he is also in the middle of job hunting. Danny, am I just overreacting with all of this?"

I shake my head. "No, this is a big step for you to not only announce your sexuality but also introduce someone important to you to other people that you want approval from."

"Where you this nervous introducing Emily to your family as I am with Louis?"

I think back on how I felt and how I introduced her to my family. "Actually I wasnt, and the reason was because I didnt love her and I was using her. There was no need for approval when she was first introduced to my family."

"Oh. I'm just a mess and I dont know how to deal with this at all!" He whines before answering a text on his phone.

"So, are you really going to bring him to your parent's house? Because tomorrow you can call him a friend who has no one to celebrate with, but that wont work at your parent's house."
