Comment what you think of this chapter. It will surprise you.

Sam returned with my food and I couldn't say a word.

"Are you ok? Your eyes are red." He asked.

"Yeah i'm fine." Was all I said.

"What happened while I was gone?" He interrogated.

"Nothing!" I shouted.

"I just don't want to talk about it." I changed my answer.

"Devyn if something happened you need to tell me or somebody-"

"I'm fine! Ok?!" I yelled once more.

"Ok." He left it alone and lounged down in the chair.

"Thank you." I calmed my voice.

"You're welcome." He pronounced.

I felt like I was making him feel bad for trying to help. Maybe I felt insecure around everyone who was trying to care.

"This guy named James Kihnfrey from my past." I paused.

"What?" He questioned.

"You wanted to know what happened. James abused me. Our parents were really good friends and so were we at one point. It's amazing how much you think you know someone but really you don't." I looked down.

"Have you ever told anyone about this?" He looked at me suspiciously.

"No. I was scared." I admitted.

James was right. I never had the strength to tell anybody.

"Tell someone." He said.

"I can't." I shook my head.

"Then I will." He stood up.

"What are you doing?"

It was then that I realized he was going to tell someone.

"Sam don't. Please!" I begged.

"Devyn! You don't deserve to be treated like this! Especially not in this condition! I will be back tomorrow." He stated.

Once again I had no word. All I wanted was to get out of this damn hospital bed and do something. I wanted to protect myself. Just 2 more weeks. I can survive.

That night felt like forever. I didn't get much sleep due to the fact that I was scared. That was the thing. I was scared of reality.

I had woken up around 5 a.m. when Rebecca gave me my medicine and couldn't fall back asleep. I sat in bed waiting for Sam to come and tell me what was going on. I couldn't get it off my mind until I knew I was safe. I heard a quiet knock on the door.

"Come in!" I yelled from the inside.

Josiah walked in with a bouquet of flowers.

"Oh my god!" I looked at him in shock.

"How you doin' kiddo?" He hugged me tightly.

It hurt but I didn't mind. His hugs made me feel safe. He handed me the flowers.

"Better." My mood switched.

"What's wrong?" He backed up and sat in the chair that Sam would always sit in.

"He's back." Was all I needed to say.

"Who?" He clenched the arm of the couch tightly.

"James, but only this time he's stronger." I stated.

"I don't know what you mean." He claimed.

"He can make you believe what he wants, Josiah."

He sat back to take a moment to think.

"This is getting out of hand, Devyn, we need to-"

Sam walked in not giving Josiah a chance to finish his sentence.

"Hey Josiah." He smiled.

"Hey kid." They pounded knuckles.

"Listen kiddo I have to meet someone downtown so I will be back later." Josiah kissed me on the forehead.

"I'm not 5." I laughed.

"I wish you were." He chuckled and walked out.

"Why was he here?" Sam asked.

"I don't know. I guess cause he has something to do downtown." I responded.

"Oh well how was your night?"

"Tiresome. I couldn't sleep." I answered.

"What about you?" I retorted the question.

"Same. I couldn't stop thinking."

"About?"

"James." He stated.

I adjusted myself in the bed. His name made me uncomfortable.

"What happened last night?" I asked curiously.

"Went to the police station. Did you know he was responsible for 3 murders in the past 2 years, and on top of that he was involved in 2 bank robberies." He said.

"What?" I almost yelled.

"Yeah. I made them aware of the situation and they are on the case." He smiled as if it were a good thing.

"Sam you're sweet and everything but I don't need anyone to get involved in this." I hoped I made my statement clear

"Devyn, you are useless you need someone to help protect you. Right now you're too weak!" He reminded me.

"That's it! I've had it! I want out of this damn bed and I sure as hell want out of this damn hospital!" I shouted as I sat up from my position and started taking the blankets off of me.

Sam got up from the chair and walked towards the door.

"Rebecca! It's happening." He shouted down the hall.

"Oh my god! You sided with them!" I screamed.

He looked at me his eyes full of water.

"You left me no choice, Devyn." He opened the door wider for Rebecca and another couple nurses.

"Sam!" I yelped as they strapped me up and rushed me out of the room.

She called an unknown number. I overheard Rebecca and another woman on the phone.

"This is Rebecca from Primary Children's. I would like you to meet a new patient here. Devyn Dinevalli."

"Yes. We have a spot I will send an ambulance right away." The scratchy voice replied.

"What's happening?!" I bawled.

"The mental psych ward will take it from here." Rebecca pushed my hair back and smiled.

"You'll get better." She whispered and walked away leaving me with the other male nurses.

"Sam! You did this!" I screamed and held out my hand.

He held a tight grip on my hand.

"I remember! I remember!" I screamed.
