Chapter 9

My afternoon classes went a lot better than my morning class, the one I went to. I finally got to start sciences and before my tutor said I could! And endurance building wasn't as bad as I thought it would be today, but I think that was them being easy on me.

Time Skip - One Month

I have been at the Blackthorne Institute for Boys for a month now. I feel that I have been progressing at a nice pace here. I have noticed that I am getting stronger and faster physically and mentally sharper. I know that they have language courses other than English and I would like to be able to start taking those soon.

I would like to start taking some of the other classes that the boys take also. I don't know what they are but I'm sure I want to take them. I need more stuff to do to fill up my time. I am almost to the point to where I am willing to try to sneak off grounds to do something in the closest town. I have done some research and know that they have a dance studio that I could go to.

I am considering going to ask if I can take the classes. If they tell me no, then I can work on sneaking off the compound to go to town.

Of course they tell me I'm not allowed to take the special classes that the boys get to take, and I'm not even allowed to know what the classes are. This is sexist, or royalist if you think about it. The good news that comes from this is that if I can figure out a way off the grounds, I can maybe go take a dance class. I have been missing those.

I spend the next week looking at the schedules of each of the levels and the administrators so I can get them memorized. The next step then becomes finding a place to sneak out through. It needs to be someplace that it won't be hard to get in and out of, and it needs to be in a place where it will be noticed by the boys during their rounds.

I find the perfect place to escape from. There are no cameras that can see the spot, and there are no rounds that go right by the spot. For someone on duty to see it, they would have to really be trying to look for holes or discrepancies to find it.

As a test I slip out through to see how long it takes for me to get to the edge of the lands owned by Blackthorne. Once I know that, then I can guess how long it would take me to get to the town walking/running.
