Thank you for choosing to read my story. Hope you enjoy!
Ethan's POV
After we left Rebecca in her room, Zach and I went to see Dr. Holst like she asked. Luckily, she was still in her office and had no one with har or waiting to speak with her.
"You asked to see us Dr. Holst." I ask.
"Yes, come on in boys." She replies giving nothing away. "You must be wondering why I would ask to see you."
Zach and I nod.
"Well as you know," she continues, "You now have a girl in your unit."
Again, we nod. This is nothing new so far.
"I can see you want me to get to the new part. As you know units stay in the same space together as it promotes unity and teamwork. With a girl now in your unit things get a little complicated. Again, everyone needs to stay with their unit, so I have devised a solution that allows her to live in the same space as you boys but has the privacy that she will need. This weekend your unit will be moving into a new building. Your unit will be moving into one of the rooms that was used when whole platoons stayed together. There is a smaller room off the larger room that will allow Rebecca the privacy that she needs without her being away from the unit. It was used for storage or the leaders of the platoon, so it should give Rebecca enough space and a place to hide when those that shouldn't know about her come visiting."
"When you say, 'people that shouldn't know about Rebecca' what do you mean?" I ask.
"I am talking about people that are coming to recruit you boys, officials that are checking on living conditions, and others that come to visit. Let me put this plain and simple, Rebecca is a GIRL, and this is an institute for BOYS. Those that know what we teach here would throw a fit and insist that she be sent to Gall... a similar school for girls, and Rebecca is not ready for that. So on that note, get moved into your new living arrangements and keep her safe and hidden when visitors come. You have my permission to explain to her why she might need to hide and come up with a plan with her on what to do when there are visitors. I suggest you have your platoon come up with a plausible excuse and a plan for when you are not in your living accommodations when visitors come."
"Can we get notification when a visit is planned so we aren't scrambling to hide Rebecca when we see a visitor coming." Zach asks.
"I will see what I can do. A lot of the time they are surprise visits, so we will need some way to communicate without everyone knowing because it would be suspicious if everyone was ready for an inspection all the time. One thing I would have to get from your unit, not just you two, is a promise that if we inform you of an impending visit that you will under no circumstance tell the other units. They will eventually figure it out when Rebecca is not present and a visitor comes but, it should be a secret for a little bit."
"Pardon me, Dr. Holst, but wouldn't it be a good idea to inform everyone so that they know not to mention anything about a girl being on the compound. As she improves, and as I suspect, surpasses some of the abilities of some of the boys, some unit leaders are going to use her as someone that their boys shouldn't let be better than them." Zach points out.
"Your concern is taken under advisement, have a good evening boys." Dr. Holst says, dismissing us.
