"What the heck is wrong with you kids?" Castiel's father Chuck questioned through a hearty laugh.
"We thought we paid for everything," Castiel tried to reassure however failing whilist their bag of candy sat forgotten, as his eyes filled with tears. "A-Are we going to jail?"
"This is why ten year olds aren't allowed to go to the store by themselves... And of course your not going to jail!" He exclaimed tossing them their bag of candy. "Just go... Enjoy it I guess this won't happen again right?"
"Right!" Both the friends exclaimed at the same time.
"Alright then..." Chuck mumbled plopping down onto the couch. "I guess you didn't already have a crazy day as it is,"
"Thank you Mr. Novak!" Y/N smiled whilst her best friend dragged her along to his room.
Minutes later they could be found up in Castiel's room chomping down on the candy they risked getting in trouble for... A day at the beach wasn't enough as once they got back to Castiel's room the friends snuck out the window to get candy. Yet that didn't go too well. That night even if they got questioned by the cops and were almost thieves it turned out well.
Once they got to enjoy their candy, many more memories like this occurred between the two friends... Many summer adventures and school field trips. You find Castiel then you find Y/N and vice versa. There seems to be no one way separate them back then yet now-
High School changes people and sometimes not for the better. Although some amazing changes occur most of them seem to have their negative aspects. Castiel thought the only thing he would have to worry about would be the bullies... Or maybe the drugs- And definitely his grades... However he never thought that he would have to worry about his best friend. He had hoped that she would always be there for him.
Yet that ceased to be the case.
Castiel twenty one years of age had lost everything he seemed to love in life and looking back on the good old days from when he was younger... When he still had his best friend, just made things worse. The trench-coated man had been on a new adventure to his home town hopefully to see his best friend and how she ended up over the years of them being apart.
His heart still seems to be shattered at what she had done to him... At all the things she had done yet more importantly how she had betrayed him. He didn't know what he had done to deserve this yet in all honesty he knew that God must've been punishing him for something... although the thought of simply Y/N doing this on her own caused Castiels heart to swell up.
What he wanted was for Y/N to take him back and reassure him that everything that happened between them was a mistake. For them to become best friend again, and for it to stay that way. They planned on going to college together... Even live together in their early years before they found the right person to get married to.
Though all that seems to be a bust.
All Castiel wanted was a friend because no one wanted to be his friend ever since Y/N dropped him. And he couldn't blame them... Or her.
"Cas come on the water's fine!" Y/N exclaimed swimming around the murky water while Castiel ate his popcorn.
"Have to finish my popcorn," The best friend explained munching down on the hot buttery treat in which he got from her soft ball game minutes ago.
"Come on it can wait... I'll make your favorite peanut butter and jelly after this!" She exclaimed through a giggle the blue-eyed man leaped into the water excited.
The raven-haired man remembers all the amazing peanut butter and jelly that Y/N used to make him. He remembers having the best time that day, his popcorn becoming long forgotten. This was something that they did almost everyday of summer until the days became bitter with cold.
Though even then the chilly air couldn't keep them apart... yet.
Their friendship had been the strongest anyone had ever known in the town... No one knew and or even expected this to happen just like poor Castiel and yet it did. People were jealous of their friendship, and now they had nothing left to be jealous of.
It had been Junior year when things became so horrible that there was no coming back nonetheless ignoring things changing. Things had taken a turn for the worst and neither Y/N or Castiel knew how to handle it... Nonetheless their friendship began to fade into nothing, even if their bond was still evident.
The blue-eyed man and his best friend didn't seem to ever think all those years ago that it would end up like this and yet it did. Y/N became a changed person.
"Do I need to pick up Y/N too?" Gabriell questioned messing up his little brothers dark locks of hair. "Lil' bro?" That seems to snap Castiel out of his thought as he quickly swatted his brothers hands away.
"No... She's getting a ride from someone else," He shrugged it off however anyone could tell that something was going on.
Thinking back on it now Castiel wished that he would have listened to his gut, confronting Y/N while he still had the chance before things got bad. Though he knew he had no way of knowing. The ravne-haired man just couldn't help yet to blame himself for all of this... Mess.
Though another part of him knew that this was all Y/N's fault and although he wanted to be nice and not acknowledge the fact that she had done everything to cause the fight. He couldn't help yet still feel the need to protect his old best friend... Because even if it had been years and years upon end the bond still existed and boy did it beg for them to come back together.
Alas things more than likely would never go back to how they were, something that Castiel just couldn't wrap his finger around as this became one of his deepest desires. Being with Y/N caused him to remember all the good times they shared together during their childhood.
Everytime he stared into her E/C/Eyes all of the times they spent laughing and giggling together came back.
Yet... If he saw her in person now all the things she did would surely come flooding back.
Their distance had become more than just evident, through the first few weeks and then months of junior year as it became worse and worse as the days went on. Castiel had dreamt every night of how to confront Y/N... and how much this could change their friendship.
Yet also how much this could fix their friendship. He'd practiced his speech in the mirror more times than he could count. He rephrased it so many times, however that didn't seem to be enough as he never got the chance to confront her before things got bad.
Things one day got bad in a way that couldn't be avoided. Punch after punch he took never fighting back knowing fully well that then he wouldn't get suspended.
He tried to shield his face as the crowd yelled from around them for him to fight. Azazel then took ahold of his arms, peeling them away from his face so that the blue-eyed man could see what was coming to him.
However he ceased to see the shove to his shoulders as his eyes locked with Y/N's... And she wasn't trying to stop nor protect Castiel like she used to... And for once in his life Castiel Novak felt fully alone.
