"So Luke! I hear you're a musician!" My friend Jace attempts to make small talk to Luke over the blaring music.
Another Saturday, another party. This time it was Jace who has decided to throw the party. Her parents left for the weekend to some conference trip, but surprise! they actually know about this party.
About half our junior class is here, everyone dreading school starting up again on Monday after our not-long-enough winter break.
"I dabble a little!" He shouts back.
I leave them trying to talk and make my way over to where the alcohol table is.
"Can I make you a drink?" I hear a deep voice say from beside me. I turn to see none other than, Austin, star soccer player of our school. I don't watch soccer, but I hear he's good enough to play on a Division I team. He's the reason the boys team has been undefeated for 3 years in a row. He's very proud of that and doesn't fail to remind people of it.
"Sure," I smile to him. He sits in front of me in math class, so this was my first year ever really getting to talk to him the 6 years we've been in school together.
"What do you like?" He cheerfully says. He's attractive, of course he would be. He has dark hair, green eyes, is at least 6 foot, and is in amazing shape. He's the person that every girl at school has a crush on at least once in their life. For me, that was freshman year, but he never knew me. What a wasted year, huh?
"Surprise me," I say. I'm already a little tipsy, but I could use one more to keep steadily going. I see him pull out some tequila and orange juice and he mixes them together.
"Impressive," I jokingly say, mocking his complex mix.
"What can I say, I do my best work under pressure," he nudged my arm playfully.
We're quickly greeted by a smiley Michael and Calum by my side. "We came for refills," Michael holds up his cup.
"Oh, you should ask Austin to make you something. He's a genius." I tease Austin, seeing him give me a playful glare.
"You guys like beer?" He jumps straight to it, and both of them nod.
"Wow, genius," Michael mocks, making me laugh. Austin cracks a smile, flipping Michael off as he hands them their bottles of beer. Michael played football freshmen year with Austin (just like every other incoming freshman boy) so they've been friends since.
Soon, a tall, blonde, beautiful, blue-eyed boy joins us again. He greets me immediately with a kiss. "Please don't leave me with her again. She scares me" Luke jokingly laughs. Ugh, his laugh. It makes my heart soar.
Luke finally asked me to be his girlfriend on New Years. "It's about time!" Said everyone who knew us, including myself. Now, all I want to do is kiss him, and hug him, and love him because I now have an excuse to do all of that. He makes me beyond happy, and for him to extend his trip here was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me. Though, I'm convinced him and Calum were willing to find any excuse just to extend their stay in LA.
"Who's this?" Austin points to Luke, not amused by that entrance. I break my gaze from Luke and open my mouth to introduce him, but Luke beats me to it.
"Luke. Al's boyfriend." He extends his hand to shake Austin's, but Austin only raises his cup to him as a sort of salute. Luke isn't amused by him either.
"Anyways," I clap my hands together, "I hear there's an empty table outside, calling our name for beer pong." I couldn't take the awkward silence that suddenly sat between our group, so I thought a game could be a nice ice breaker.
