a/n: hello beautiful people! i think i did... okay with getting this one out, yeah? i guarantee the next one will be within the next week as i am a tad bit eager to end this one since i have a new book i'll be starting soon (a junhui book, for all my fellow carats.) anywaaaaay, i hope you enjoy the chapter and no i don't know what editing is <3
"you're a magician, i swear! i thought they'd be all awkward and stuff with each other for the rest of high school, at least." changkyun praised me as sooyoung and i sat down at my dining room table after grabbing some soda to go with the pizza we were about to eat.
"i can't imagine how awful that would be. it's really a great thing you were able to get them back to normal." sooyoung smiled before taking a bite from her piece of pizza.
i smiled back at the two of them as i pulled my phone out of my pocket to see if i had any notifications, which i didn't, but there's no harm in checking.
"hey! put your phone away! today is supposed to be our day to just hang out and enjoy our time without our boyfriends." changkyun slapped my arm lightly as he scolded me.
i let out a small laugh as i said sorry and put my phone back in pocket, grabbing a slice of pizza with my other hand.
literally as soon as my teeth touched the beautiful cheese, i was interrupted by a knock on the front door.
sooyoung let out an annoyed sigh. "ah, what the fuck? hyunmi, did you invite someone else?"
after putting the slice of pizza back down on my plate and standing up, i shook my head no with a small shrug.
she tilted her head in a confused puppy manor as i headed towards the door.
when i opened the door, hoseok was standing there with his head down. he lifted it slowly when he realized i was standing in front of him.
"what are you doing here? did something happen?"
he looked... empty? staring at him was slowly breaking my heart.
he put his head back down, walking past me into the house.
"hey, hoseok. what's going on?" i heard changkyun ask while i shut the door before leading hoseok to the dining room and having him take a seat.
hoseok offered a weak smile towards our two friends.
"buddy, are you okay? you're acting a bit off..." sooyoung commented as she continued to eat her pizza.
hoseok didn't say anything. he just softly shook his head.
i took a seat next time him, grabbing one of his soft hands and rubbing it gently.
"what's wrong?" i asked in a quiet voice.
he bit his lower lip and shut his eyes hard. a sigh left his mouth. "i didn't know you were having people over. i just needed to talk to you as soon as possible."
i looked over to changkyun and sooyoung who were (very badly) acting as if they weren't paying attention to us and were just eating.
i turned my attention back to hoseok, still rubbing the back of his hand with my thumbs. "let's go to my room and talk, okay?" i stood up, pulling him up with me. "we'll be back." i nodded to our friends as i led my best friend to my room.
after i shut and lock my bedroom door, i turned to face the boy who was now sitting on my bed. i took a seat next to him, grabbing his hand again.
"okay, what's goi-"
"i broke up with her." the words left his mouth quickly. "somi and i, we broke up."
i couldn't believe my ears. i felt an overwhelming sense of shock and happiness, mostly happiness, and i couldn't really explain why. but my heart felt warm.
"w-well, what happened?"
"ahh," he exhaled slowly. "we were talking. she said some really stupid shit, some pretty smart shit, too... and it really made me realize that she's not... the one."
"well it is rare to find 'the one' in high school..."
"so you don't think hyungwon is the one?"
i suddenly felt very flustered. i started to stutter as i tried to come up with a response.
"i think i know who the one for me is." hoseok smiled to himself after giving up on me answering.
"oh? who?" i questioned.
"you."
