Roommates

Part 23

My alarm blasts loudly, waking me up from sleep.  I groan and turn it off. I sit up and see that Son Hyun Woo is still sleeping. I get up and head to bathroom where I do my morning routine. The house is quiet because everyone has already left for the day. When I finish in the bathroom, I go back to my room and grab my backpack. I walk down the long hall to kitchen. I see a note stuck to the fridge. It's from eomma saying that there are side dishes and rice in the fridge and there is enough for Son Hyun Woo and I. I hear Son Hyun Woo go to the bathroom. When I open the fridge, I see that everything is in individual containers. I grab some and sit at the table. My phone chimes. More random people harassing me...yay. I eat my rice and side dishes happily, that is until Son Hyun Woo shows up.  I scroll through my phone and completely ignore him.  He gets his food and  stands at the counter and eats. I finish eating and put my dishes in the sink. The doorbell rings. I go to the front door and open it.

"Oppa, what are you doing here?"I ask. Yong Guk smiles at me.

"Since I have lots of free time, I decided I should walk you to school." Yong Guk says.

"You didn't have to." I say. 

"I know, but I wanted to." He says. I smile.

"I'll be right back." I say.  I run back to the kitchen and grab my backpack. When I get back to the front door, I put my shoes and jacket on and then head out the door. Yong Guk and I walk to school. I feel like now is the right time to say this.

"So, I thought about what you asked." I say, looking straight ahead. I feel his gaze on me.

"And?" He asks. I take a deep breath.

"I think we should stay just friends" I say, still not looking at him.

"Oh." He says, quietly. I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to get back with him.

At School

It's so loud in here, that I can't even concentrate. I look at Sa Rang and see that she's fast asleep and Mi Na went to Kihyun's class. I get up and exit the class. Some random freshman girls come up to me.

"So, did you and Shownu oppa break up?" They ask.

"Ne. He's all yours." I say. They cheer right in front of my face, which is quite rude.

"Yay!" They cheer and walk away. I make my way to the vending machine to buy my favorite drink ever, strawberry milk.

"Song Jae Eun!" A voice calls. I turn around and see Lee Minhyuk.  I wave. That's when I notice he's with Son Hyun Woo. I put my money into the vending machine and get my strawberry milk.

"What are you up to?" Minhyuk asks.

"Just grabbing something to drink." I say, holding up my milk. Minhyuk looks between Son Hyun Woo and I.

"Did you two get into a fight?" He asks. I shake my head.

"Ani. We broke up." I say. This makes Son Hyun Woo look at me, but I look away.

"You're joking right?" Minhyuk asks.

"Ani." I say.

"Heol." Minhyuk says, shocked. Suddenly, a freshman girl approaches us.

"Shownu oppa, do you want to have lunch together?" She asks, shyly.

"I'll see you later." I say to Minhyuk and then walk away before I can here Son Hyun Woo's reply. I'm curious, but at the same time I'm not.

Later

School is done for the day. It turns out that Son Hyun Woo declined the girl because I found him sleeping in the back of the library at lunch. Today I'm staying after school to study. I'm walking past the pool when I see Son Hyun Woo and coach Jang. I don't know why, but I stop. I hide myself behind the open door.
