Roommates

Part 43

  I put my ear close to his mouth and hear him slowly and quietly breathing. I shift his body, so he's lying flat on the floor. I unzip his gym uniform sweater, then take off my sweater and put it under his head. I find a box and put his feet on top of it. I start fanning him with my hands.  After a while, I go back to the door and start banging on it. At this point, I feel like it's useless because no one will even hear it. I suddenly hear Hyun Woo cough. I sit down next to him. 

"Are you okay?" I ask. His face is so pale now. He slowly nods his head. He tries to sit up. 

"It's best if you stay lying down for now." I say, not wanting him to pass out again. I notice him staring at my hands, so I shove them into the pockets of my sweatpants. My hands have become red from banging on the door so hard. The door suddenly opens. Our friends are standing on the other side of the door. I scramble up. 

"What happened to you two?" Wonho asks. 

"I'll explain later, but I need you guys to wait here with Hyun Woo." I say, leaving before they can say anything. I jog down the hall back to our class. 

"You got out." Lee Jin Soo says, appearing out of nowhere, blocking my path. I roll my eyes. 

"You're really sick." I say, pushing past him. He grabs my wrist. 

"This isn't over. In fact, this is just the beginning." Jin Soo says. I yank my wrist free and walk away. When I get to the classroom, I grab my stuff and Hyun Woo's stuff. I also call Appa because he's off work today. I go back to the gym and find everyone sitting around Hyun Woo. 

"Now are you gonna tell us what happened?" Wonho asks. 

"Lee Jin Soo." I say. His name leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I explain to them everything that happened and wait for their reaction.

"That's really messed up." I.M. says. Everyone nods in agreement. 

"Water." Hyun Woo says. We all look at him. I go through his backpack and find his water bottle. Jooheon raises Hyun Woo's head and I put the bottle to his lips.

"Lee Jin Soo is such a jerk." Sa Rang says. 

"Seriously, what's his problem?" Kihyun asks. Hyun Woo finishes drinking his water, so I put it back in his backpack. Just then my phone chimes, it's Appa saying that he's outside. 

"Can you help me take Hyun Woo to my dad's car?" I ask. 

"You don't even need to ask." Jooheon says. Jooheon puts Hyun Woo's right arm around his shoulder and Kihyun takes his left. We all head outside, where Appa is parked. He helps Jooheon and Kihyun put Hyun Woo into the back of the car. I load our stuff into the back of the car and then say bye to our friends. 

"Call us." Mi Na says. I nod and then get into the passenger seat. 

"What happened to Hyun Woo?" Appa asks, as he pulls out of the parking lot. 

"Hyun Woo suddenly fainted." I say, only telling him part of the story. 

"Are you okay?" Appa asks, directing the question to Hyun Woo. I see Hyun Woo slowly nod his head through the rear view mirror. 

"I'll call your parents." Appa says.  Hyun Woo nods his head again. I've never seen him like this before, I'm worried. 

Later

Appa called Hyun Woo's parents and they came home to take care of him. We all decided that it would be best if we just got take out for dinner today. I offered to go buy it, so they gave me the money to buy fried chicken. While I was at home, I got changed out of my gym clothes and into a sweater and skinny jeans. I'm currently walking into the restaurant. I walk in and see that it's pretty full for a Wednesday night. I stand in the line and wait.
