Chapter 5

Wendy

On Friday, Matthew was walking me to my dorm when he asked, "do you want to go to the movies tomorrow?" I slowed my pace "this place has a movie theatre, that is so cool."

"Yeah but they play movies that are already out of theatres, right now I think they're playing Devil Inside, Beautiful Creatures, Endless Love and another one that I can't remember."

"I really wanted to go see Endless Love when it came out."

"You're kidding me right? I was thinking the "Devil Inside” he said.

"That's a horror movie," I pointed out.

"Yeah but it will be ten times better than Endless Love" he said taking my hand.

"I don't like scary movies".

He moved me closer "don't worry I'll be with you."

So I figure that if you are going to date and try to lead a normal life I should too. Wyatt said invading my thoughts.

Okay but in order for you to do that you have to have someone to do date. I replied

Exactly so I was thinking that you should ask Roxy out for me?

You do know that she's best friends with Bridget right.

Yeah and I also happen to know that she's gorgeous and smart and funny.

You have barely spoken to this girl, for all you know she's stupid and a stick in the mud.

Well is she?

No

This is why we should go out then I'd know these things for sure . So are you going to do it?

Sure, but like always you owe me

Definitely. 10 weeks.

"O.M.G" squealed Roxy when I told her what Matthew had said, "That is so sweet."

"I know" I replied matching her tone of excitement.

Ask her a voice said in my head.

"Do you want to come with us?" I asked; she made a face "I'd be a third wheel". I shook my head "it'd be a double date" she nodded sarcastically "yeah and who's going to be my date."

 "My brother," our laughs fell silent.

"Are you serious? No. Are you crazy," she asked shaking me, "Bridget would kill me, not to mention make your life as her roommate a living hell."

I shrugged "so I'll move out."

"And live where?"

"Do you have roommate?"

She shook her head "actually no, that's a great idea." She took out her phone and texted somebody "all done you are officially my new roommate."

I raised an eyebrow "you have the D.A's number?"

"Yeah I have everybody in this school's except for the dorks. Great now you are home free, but still she'll ruin my social reputation."

"Only if you let her".

        ASK Wyatt screamed in my head. All of a sudden, my ears started to pound, and I started to shake. My throat felt dry and I heaved heavily for air. Black spots danced before my eyes and I dug my fingers deep into the carpet the feeling in my veins was excruciating.  The pained deepened immensely and I let out a shrill cry, my whole body felt like it was under attack. I knew this feeling too well, it was the effect of refusing. Refusing to do everything my insticnts told me to, the very thing that made me who I was. Refusing to survive, refusing to feed, refusing to kill.

"Wyatt"  I called to him in my head.

        "Don't worry I'm calling 911" Roxy said picking up her phone. but before she could dial Wyatt burst through the door and threw himself on the floor, "idiot" he muttered.

"I told you to feed," he screamed.

        "I'm going to go get help," Roxy said in a shaky voice. Wyatt shook his head and bit his wrist; blood started spilling out of his hand. He held it to my lips.

        He stared frantically at Roxy when his blood wasn't doing anything, "do you want to help?" he asked, she nodded showing little movement. She was filled with fear as she put out her hand, he scrutinized her very closely she nodded again and he bit her wrist. He put her hand to my mouth and just that drop of blood soothed me.

"So let me get this straight, you're vampires said Roxy", I sat up gasping for air.

Wyatt's voice was full of worry "are you okay?" I nodded "yeah I feel fine".

"Good, that's awesome. Why didn't you feed?"

I cursed in my head, I had seen this coming "um because I have no resources" I tried to smile.

"Really Wendy, it's just three months all you needed to do was feed the day before we came but what do you do go all rebellious on me. You know what, pull this trick and you will die and you know what that means, you'll find yourself changing faster than normal."

I could see a vein throbbing in his head, I was about to retaliate when I realised that he was right.

"I'm sorry."

"It's not okay, but it is."

        "Am I missing something here?" Roxy asked. We sat her down and explained our breed of supernatural to her and the whole time she and Wyatt couldn't stop looking at each other.
