Wyatt

She sat with her hands tied behind her back, slumped her hair falling to the ground. Gently I placed my hands on her arms and spoke "Roxy". She didn’t move. Then I smelled it, the stench of chloroform was thick in the atmosphere around her. I untied her and gently lay her down on the ground. Charlotte approached me "chloroform" she said confirming my thought. We stayed there for a while waiting for Jake to get my sister and Matthew. "Why is she asleep?" Wendy asked running in I didn't have to answer it the smell wafted through the air.

"We should go back," Matthew, said.

"You guys aren't going anywhere" we turned around and there he stood, I could make out the face of his shape and the colour of the rose I had seen him wearing just two hours ago. He had a gun in his hand pointing straight at us.

"What are you going to do shoot?" Jake asked taking a step towards him; Karl shrugged "I killed my cousin why wouldn't I kill you?"

What!? Gasps were released and in that split second, two shots rang out. Jake fell to the floor; Charlotte stiffened beside me where had the other shot hit? It was freeze frame moment; I heard an intake of air and then struggle to breath.

Blood oozed out of her chest her mouth was open and her eyes were still. She grabbed onto Matthew's cuff struggling to stay alive. Everything turned hazy.

I lunged at Karl channeling my vampire side; I beat the gun out of his hand. When he finally let go I grabbed him by the collar and smashed his head against the ground. Blood came spilled out of the side of his head. I wanted to keep beating him but rationed her deserved a slow painful death.

Turning back, I saw the chaos that had unfolded. Charlotte was kneeling next to Jake pleading for him to wake, Wendy was heaving trying grasp onto life. I turned my head away I couldn't bear to see her take her last breaths. I knelt down beside Charlotte; I grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to stand up. She was sobbing, and as I held her thunder rolled in. I clutched her as she shed her tears, then she just fell out of my hands.

What had started out as a somewhat normal day was taking a turn for the worse. My sister had been shot dead, my best friend was killed, my "girlfriend" was unconscious and we were stranded in the middle of nowhere. I sat by a tree beside Matthew both of us silent as the rain fell lightly on us. Neither of us could bear to look at her body. We sat still with vacant expressions until Karl moved.

He slowly got up, smiled deviously picking up the gun. We didn't even bother to move, we were alone in the world if he shot us he'd be doing us a favour. But he didn't get to, a bolt of lightning struck him in the chest, jolting his body with electricity and down he fell.

Matthew and I glanced at each other then back to Karl's body. After everything that had happened in the past hour, the jerking body didn't faze us. I turned my head to where Wendy lay, the sight of her motionless self pained me, and I closed my eyes and deeply swallowed. When I lifted my eyelids the forest was no longer black, it was illuminated in blue light. In the distant, I saw a deeper blue light heading towards us. Matthew and I stood up simultaneously and began walking toward it instep. It was like a force pulling us towards the light.

Maybe we were dead.

As we neared, the light I could make it out, it was a light blue gem. My heart skipped a beat and I stooped in my steps. The gem neared, and I realized it was worn on a neck, pale pasty white. I could hear heavy breathing, I tried to listen for a heartbeat but there was none. The face was hardly visible but I had a good idea of who it was. It seemed impossible but with all that had happened the word impossible no longer existed.

Before I could think or stop myself, I reached out and touched her hand. It was as frigid as ice but the warmth behind it was still there, memories flooded back in. I quickly let go, I was sure I was hallucinating.

As she stepped out of the shadows, I felt my stomach drop. She smiled that brilliant smile that gave me chills. I glanced over at Matthew to make sure I was imagining things but his similar state of shock told me this was no dream.

"Annie" the name left my lips without thought suddenly causing me to smile in spite of everything that had just happened.

"Wyatt" she said, amazement behind her words "I've missed you".

Beside me, Matthew shook his head "you're dead", tears slid down her face as she spoke "Mattie I'm alive and you can help me stay alive. It's me Mattie" her voice put me in a trance.

"How?" Matthew asked his voice cracking "Roxy, I take her, even though it'd be her face and body it'd be me my soul, my thoughts, my heart."

Was what she was saying true, could I have her back and be with her again?

"What'd happen to Roxy's soul?" I asked she frowned and I knew what that meant.

"We'd be together again, Wyatt I love you and you love me, we'd be together like we always planned".

Was that even true anymore did I love her?

"Mattie?" she turned to Mathew when she saw I was having second thoughts he nodded. Kill Roxy save Annie's soul. My eyes caught on the brown sunglasses placed in her hair "you still have the glasses" I said she was still a siren.

"Come on Wyatt I love you together forever come on Wit" the mention of the old nickname that she had given me warmed my heart, before I knew it I was nodding.

Thunder rumbled Karl stood walking towards Annie his steps staggered "they're dead," he told her. I could have sworn that he had just been struck by lightning.

"Now we're together guys us three no sisters no girlfriends just us three" Annie said. Karl looked hurt "what about me I did what you asked you said..." before he finished he doubled over in pain clutching his stomach falling to the floor.

I looked to Annie "what does he mean he did what you asked?"

"He killed the others for me so we could be together forever just us".

I couldn't believe it and I had no plans of trying to believe it "you killed Wendy" Matthew said through clenched teeth, I was surprised he could still speak; I was trying to wrap my head around it all.

"I did it for us," Annie said sternly. A shot rang out coinciding with the booming clap of thunder, Matthew and I turned our heads Charlotte had the gun in her hand "revenge" she mouthed sitting up. Karl's body twitched then froze, blood oozing out of his stomach.

Charlotte stood up and pointed the gun at Annie "you didnt get me you sure as hell are not getting my best friend." she pulled the trigger the bullet hitting Annie in the thigh. She dropped the gun and fell to her knees in a fit of tears.
