Chapter 16

Wendy

        I opened one eye then the next, everything in my sights mometarily blurred; I sat up slowly a burning sensation spreading from my waist down through my toes. A pained whimper escaped my lips and I fell back on the bed. I imagined this was what period cramps felt like. As a born vampire/wizard my body didn’t go through the normal cycle of a teenage girl, I never got my period. Puberty started at age eighteen for me, and it wasn’t my body becoming a “woman”, but becoming my choice. I quickly dispelled thoughts of the change and turned my head to the side, Roxy was not in her bed, which was a surprise since it was Saturday, and she liked to sleep in. 

        "Get up"  Roxy said strolling out of the bathroom toothpaste falling out of her mouth. 

   "Tell me what happened," she said, or I think that’s what she said, the toothnrush muffled her words. Taking it as that I began to tell her about the events that had taken place yesterday, she held up a finger motioning me to hold on went to the bathroom to spit.

        My phone beeped beside me with an alert of a text from Wyatt, "come to my room, emergency." I threw off my blanket and stood up ignoring the pain, at this moment in time the emergency could mean only one thing, Annie. I lazily dragged my feet over to the that hung beside the bathroom door, my hair was all over the place. As i looked closer I noticed the redness of my eyes that Matthew was talking about. I used magic to freshen myself up, and straighten my hair out, but not even magic could get out all the kinks and knots.

 "Ok so" Roxy said coming out of the bathroom, "Wendy have you seen yourself?"

I turned to her and sarcastically said "no because I am standing in front of mirror."

        She grabbed a brush from the top of her dress and started to smooth out my hair.

 "Matthew and I are history" I said as she pulled a chunk of my hair out with no mercy.

        She tossed the brush grabbed a hair tie and tied my hair into a ponytail. Placing both hands on my shoulders, she gave me a hug "he was out of your league anyways".

"So what happened after you and your brother started playing tag?"

 I laughed at the way she put it "I'll tell you on the way."

        I grabbed my phone, and walked out the door. "Where are we going?" she asked I showed her the text I had gotten from Wyatt.

        Once in the elevator I began to tell her about what had happened yesterday, leaving out the part about Annie being the love of Wyatt's life.

We stepped out of the elevator, and walked into the lounge. Roxy insisted that we stop in front of the vending machine for something to eat. While I waited for her to decide between Mrs. Vicks or Lays, my  phone buzzed in my pocket.

"Hello" I answered,                                                                       

"Where are you Wendy?"

"I'm coming"

 "Can't you flash here?" he asked frustrated.

        I sighed and hung up the phone, I looked over to Roxy who had decided to get both Lays and Mrs. Vickie. I told her we were flashing there, so we went to the bathroom. I took her hand but before I could do anything, Roxy screamed "holy shit."

 I dropped my hand, "what?"

"Look in the mirror" she said steering me to where the mirrors were.

         She tilted my neck giving me clear view of two dull red marks on my neck, a perfect vampire bite. I gasped and steadily brought my hand up to touch it, it didn't hurt it was just there. I looked at Roxy who had the same unknowing look as I.
