Wendy
The next day it was as if it had not rained at all, the sky was clear, the sun was shining and there was no evidence of gloom. As we made our way to class Roxy kept on talking about how she wasn't going to prom anymore and that we shouldn't tell her anything when we came back because she didn't want to know about how wonderful it was. Charlotte and I were so close to screaming at her but we did not after all she was "grieving".
Classes dragged on and on until finally the lunch bell rang. "I am so excited," squealed Roxy as we sat down with our food, "Why?" I asked. "Because I get to go to prom with a date, see taking texts
in class is always a good idea".
I took a bite out of my pizza "so you guys got back together?" Charlotte asked shook her head.
"Then who are you going to prom with?" I sipped my coke "Karl" she said I did a spit take.
"Karl?"
"What about him?" Mathew asked sitting beside me.
Roxy was grinning from here to Africa, I grabbed some paper towels and wiped my face "I am owwwwwwwwwww" Roxy said.
"Shut your mouth" Charlotte whispered to her.
We ate in silence for a few minutes then Jake belted out "Wyatt has something to say," Wyatt shot him a look "I was going to say that-" before he could finish Roxy interrupted "I'm going to the prom with Karl."
Charlotte hit her forehead "what an idiot" Wyatt picked up his sandwich "I have to go.” We all ate in an uncomfortable silence that was held by Charlotte's threatening looks when either of us attempted to speak.
After school, I went to the spot with Mathew needing to forget about everything that had happened. "What do you think Wyatt was going to say?" I asked lifting my head from his lap.
He shrugged, “you’re the one telepathically connected to him.”
“I know but he blocked me out.”
He made facial expression as if he was thinking, "you already know so I'm not saying anything," he said.
"I have no idea what it was" I told him, he folded his arms across his chest "take a wild guess," he said.
"Um I can guess he was going to take Roxy back or something like that," Matthew raised both his eyes brows I covered my mouth with my hands "that's why he looked so miserable after Roxy said that she was going with Karl".
I returned to my previous position "poor Wyatt I feel so bad for him", he ran a hand through my hair "he broke up with her."
I stared at the cloudless blanket of blue. The emptiness of the sky was like a canvas for me I started painting my life. "Matthew? Would you still love me if I was a blood sucking demon from the dead?"
He looked down at me his brown eyes staring into mine "even if you were a vengeance seeking zombie."
I smiled and sat up placing my arms around his neck I pulled him close. We kissed passionately until my phone rang "hello" I said, "Wendy Charlotte won't talk to me so I need you to come with me so I can go get a prom dress." I weighed my options stay here and kiss Matthew or go shopping with Roxy "please Wendy prom is on Saturday”, she begged, "fine" I said giving in.
We went to the nearest clothing store to the school called "Look the Look." we had passed this one last week because according to Charlotte their clothes and accessories were crap. Roxy tried on a bunch of dresses and could not make up her mind until she tried on a pale pink knee length spaghetti strapped dress. It was plainly beautiful with rhinestones at the collar for just $100. She did not even think she announced her adoration for it instantly and bought it.

My body was buzzing with excitement; prom was only two days away. It was at a Hilton about two miles away from Chapman. I had never been to a Hilton before in my life and my first time just so happened to be "The Most Enchanting Night of Your Life" (prom theme). It was huge. From the outside, it seemed as if it could fall on you. I was so excited if the outside was mesmerizing wonder the inside.
Our hotel room had hard wood flooring giant king size bed, an enormous closet and a sparkling bathroom. "Holy shit" Charlotte said coming behind me, "this place is huge."
"Will somebody help me with these bags" Roxy whined hauling her luggage out of the elevator "Roxy we are only here for two days you didn't need to pack all that stuff." She started rambling about how it was important she had all her beauty items. The seniors had raised enough money this year that prom became a two-day one-night stay at the Hilton. Perks of going to a rich school.
I had chosen to room with Roxy and Charlotte, not that I had a choice, since coming to Chapman; I hadn't really made any other friends other than the two of them. As a lay, my head down to sleep Friday night I began to wish I had made other friends. It turned out Charlotte snored, a sound that would rival a lion’s growl. Roxy did not seem affected by the monstrous sound; I on the other hand was awoken may times during the night. I got out of bed and headed for the door a midnight walk through the hotel was sounding awesome.
I took the elevator down to the lobby. I was still mesmerized by the appearance of it. Purple patterned carpet lay on the floor, a crystal gold chandelier hung low from the ceiling, illuminating the whole foyer. From the lobby I rode the elevator back to my floor hoping hopelessly that Charlotte had stopped snoring.
"Tomorrow night yeah I know you'll be alive again."
His back was turned to me but I knew it was "yeah yeah I know" he said into the phone.
"She'll be there" he hung up the phone and walked away without taking notice of me.
"This can't be happening" I told myself as I banged on the door, I was locked out of my room. No matter how hard or loud I thumped on the door neither Charlotte nor Roxy heard me. Amazing, I thought, the girl with a billion, sixth senses couldn't sense my distress.
I leaned by the door feeling extremely exhausted. I pondered over my options, either stays here and sleep by the door or I could go bunk with the guys. I made my way back to the elevator and rode to the seventh floor where the boys had been assigned to sleep. It took three knocks to get Jake out of bed "what are you doing here?" He leaned on the door his eyelids drooping over, "I got locked out of my room and Charlotte and Roxy can't hear me banging the door so I came here."
"Trust me they can," he said with a yawn opening the door for me to enter.
"Matthew, your girls here" he said slamming the door shut.
Matthew rolled over onto his back and sat up, "Wendy? What are you doing here?" I made my way over to his bed "I got locked out of my room." He smiled and motioned me towards him. I crawled under the covers and he draped his hands around me instantly returning to his sleep. It turned out that Matthew snored also, but his was a low kitten purr that sang me too sleep.
I woke up around 8:00am; Matthew and Jake were still in dreamland so I stole away quietly tip toeing out of the room.
"Nice of you too join us," Charlotte said opening the door for me her toothbrush in her mouth.
"You were banging on the door way too loud last night," she said.
"Wait, you heard?"
She threw a pillow at Roxy's head to wake her up "of course I did."
"Then why didn't you open the door?"
"'Because I was too lazy," she said right before entering the bathroom. I stared at her amazed; she was really a piece of work.
