Hvaid was born on Romulus in the largest hospital of the capital city Ki Baratan in 2292 as son of the powerful magician and Vulcan-Magiran hybrid Shanak and his Romulan mistress Vrima tr'Delatham.
His mother's parents discovered right after the standard blood test that he was not a child of the man whom they had chosen for their daughter but from a Federation Vulcan agent.
This was the reason he was sent away to Vulcan, to be raised by his family and to never see his mother again.
His father was only fresh out of Starfleet Academy and had been stationed aboard a vessel out of com range when Hvaid was dropped off on Vulcan, but his great-grandparents Sarek and Amanda took him in for the time being.
Shanak came to see him 3 months afterwards, during shore leave. They immediately established a telepathic bond which could withstand space and time, a sort of parental bond extremely uncommon among Vulcans, even those who were melders.
After the formation of this bond, a purple crystal grew on his forehead. This was normal for a part-Magiran child, since all Magiran children grew a diamond-shaped crystal on their foreheads in a specific shade that would characterize their magic.

As he grew older, Hvaid began to develop high telepathy and empathy, forcing him to learn to control his reactions. Especially because with Magirans, emotions and magic is still linked together before the age of 12.
All the magic he learns is learned from his father and aunt, who lives on Vulcan.
At the age of 14, he first sets foot on Magira to take the same magical test his father took to indicate a temporary magical rank. The Deciders gave him the temporary rank of Shúliàn de Yīgè, a skilled one. His older half-sister N'Vea was given the same rank 3 years before.
N'Vea was born when his father was still a Cadet in Starfleet Academy, his mother being the girlfriend he had at that time. The girlfriend, Rosemary Scott, had been a linguistics cadet and the daughter of Montgomery Scott and Nyota Uhura, officers who had also served on the USS Enterprise during the time Shanak's fathers had been its commanding officers.
The darker skinned girl was just as smart as her mother and grandmother when it came to languages, but she could also be a proficient science officer later in life.

When Hvaid was 15 and considering Starfleet Academy, his father married a Vulcan male named Stalet. Stalet was one of the few Vulcans who worked outside Vulcan for the VSA since he was proficient in xenobiology in a medical way.
Because of his new stepfather, Hvaid became extremely interested in medical sciences. His interests influenced his Academical career heavily. He graduated from Harvard in Medicine, from the VSA in Xenobiology, Diplomacy and Astrology and from Starfleet Academy in Biochemical sciences, Warp technology and Bothany.
His amount of specialities got him stationed on Deep Space K7, which was once an outpost in the Klingon Neutral zone. But since the peace treaty, it's a science station.
