"Echo 2 is away, sir." Malcolm told after launching the satellite from his station. "A clean launch." and he nodded at the Captain.
Archer walked over to the science station, on the other side of the bridge.
"It's made contact with Echo 1." T'Pol informed him.
"How long until we get subspace online?" he asked, walking over to Hoshi in the front.
"I'd like to send a few test transmissions to calibrate amplifiers... an hour." the com officer told.
"My guess is that there are a lot of people on board waiting to call home."
Just that moment, a loud beep went off. It came from Reed's station.
"A vessel has dropped out of warp, 12 kilometers dead ahead." the Lieutenant read.
"Put it up."
Ensign Sato pressed a few buttons, the alien vessel coming in their view.
"Look familiar?" Archer asked, looking at T'Pol.
"I don't recognize the configuration." the female Vulcan told.
The Captain looked back at the vessel, flying closer to their position. "Good. Hail them."
Sato pressed buttons, opening all their hailing frequencies.
"This is the starship Enterprise, what can we do for you?"
No reply came from the other ship, so Archer went on. "My name is Jonathan Archer. We're on a mission of exploration from the planet Earth."
It stayed dead on the other side.
"Hoshi?"
"The channel's open sir." the Ensign replied.
Archer's eyes fell back on the ship. "Do you need assistance?"
And again... dead silence from the alien vessel.
The Captain began walking again. "If you don't want to talk, that's fine. But you dropped in on us."
And suddenly, the alien vessel turned around and went straight into warp.
"Was it something I said? Did you get anything on sensors?"
"No. No bio signs, no weapon signatures... no readings at all." the armory officer said.
Archer frowned with his entire face, not believing what Reed had said.

Back in sickbay, while treating plasma burns on one of the Engineers, Hvaid suddenly felt a knock on his mental walls. He laid his tools down and reached with his left and for his left temple, closing his eyes.
"Doctor, are you alright?" the engineer asked.
The hybrid recollected himself. "I have not felt so much telepathic pressure in quite a while, not since my last encounter with a specific species near the Eridan Belt. I will recover fastly enough, please stay here." and he left the ward to sit down on a chair in the office.
The pressure on his mental walls was building and building, until it completely left. It left the Vulcanoid lightheaded and really dizzy.

Hvaid came to the mess hall that night for dinner, grabbing a bowl of fresh vegetable salad. He was on early dinner, Phlox would go to the mess hall around 1830 hours.
The only other Vulcan on the ship made eye-contact with him.
The hybrid walked over to her. "I presume that you made eye-contact because you want to talk to me."
