~Blaine~

I sighed and stared blankly at the wall across from me. What was taking him so long? Just then, I heard footsteps and a high pitched feminine giggle. I rolled my eyes and barely restrained the groan that was begging to leave my lips. Of course he was straight. . .

~Death~

I walked my sister back into the living room and she happily perched herself extremely close to Blaine. I turned my back on them and headed up the stairs. It was the only way I could keep from ripping her to shreds. Wait. . . That's my sister. Why would I. . .? Why was I suddenly feeling so possessive. The only thought that stuck in my mind was: MINE! What was it about this boy that made me feel this way?

"Where are you going?"

I stopped halfway up the stairs and turned to look down at Life, who was currently standing at the foot of the stairs with her hands on her hips. I sighed. What did I do wrong this time?

"I need to go get something from my room?"

"Oh really?" She quirked an eyebrow, silently communicating that she knew I was lying.

I sighed and nodded my head. Thankfully, she let me be on my way instead of carrying on about me leaving them downstairs. I think it finally struck her that I was retreating because I needed to clear my head.

I resisted the urge to slam my door once I was in my room and somehow managed to shut it gently instead. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep my anger pent up forever. I grabbed the closest thing and threw it at the wall. Naturally, it had to be a breakable object. I sighed in disbelief as I stared at the shards of crystal glittering on my carpet beneath my window. Fan-fucking-tastic.

I growled and headed back down the stairs. That was probably a good thing. My sister was currently standing over Blaine and he was cowering back in fear. I sighed and stalked over to my sister. I grabbed her around the waist and lifted her off of her feet. I threw her over my shoulder and headed for the front door. I know she just got here, but she obviously was only going to make things worse. I opened the door and tossed her out on her butt. She glared up at me.

"I'll call you later. I don't need you scaring the poor boy out of his mind."

"Like you'll do any better," she spat before storming off to her car and peeling out of my driveway.

I sighed and shut the door. Wow, I have been sighing a lot here lately. I trudged back into the living room to find Blaine curled up into a tight ball on my couch. I stopped in my tracks and tilted my head. What happened when I wasn't down here?

"Hey, you okay?" I asked gently.

His head snapped up. "Is your sister always so intimidating?"

I sighed and nodded my head. "Yeah. All I can say is that you should be glad you didn't grow up with her. She has always been capable of some pretty cruel pranks." I shuddered at one memory in particular. "Then again, you should be really glad that you didn't grow up with my other triplet, Karman, or Karma, as a lot of people like to call her."

His jaw dropped. "You guys are triplets? And you have a sister named Karma?" Disbelief was thick in his voice.

I smirked. "Yeah. Let's just say Karman and Zoe weren't exactly merciful siblings. Then again, I gave what I got. Only my revenge was generally worse than what they had done to me."

My smirk widened into a full blown grin as I thought of one specific time. The girls had decided it would be fun to make me feel the pain of life - since I was technically dead to begin with - and what they didn't realize was that I could do the very same thing to them. About a week later, after I'd had time to recover from their nasty prank, I snuck up on both of them and made them die a "mini" death. Let's just say they almost didn't survive and my parents almost never forgave me. . .

"What are you laughing at?" He was now looking at me like I was crazy.

That only made me laugh harder. "Sorry, I was thinking about one particular time I made my sisters regret the prank they pulled on me," I explained as soon as I had calmed down enough to get out coherent phrases.

He nodded in confusion. "Okay," he said slowly.

I grinned sheepishly and rubbed the back of my neck.

He furrowed his brows. "So, what's your name?"

I groaned. This was the part I hated most about any type of introduction. When people heard my name, they always did one of two things. Laughed and said "No, seriously." or looked at me as if I belonged in a looney bin.

"Uh. . . It's Thanatos. . . " I looked away from him.

He cleared his throat after a moment and I looked back up at him. "Really?"

I nodded my head.

"What language is that?"

"Greek. All three of us have Greek names that mean something entirely different in English." I mentally smacked myself. Why would I say that? What if he asked what it meant now? I definitely couldn't tell him it meant death. At least, not without explaining everything.

He tilted his head to the side, silently mulling that over. "So, Zoe and Karman's names are also Greek?"

"Yeah."

"What do their names mean?"

"Life and karma."

"What about yours?"

"You don't want to know."

"Why not?"

"Just trust me. You really don't want to know."

His brows furrowed again. "What if I said I already knew?"

My jaw went slack and I just stared at him for a moment. "Then, what does it mean?"

He looked down at his lap and rubbed the back of his neck. "Death," he whispered.

I was even more dumbfounded now. "How do you know?"

"I knew all three of them. I can speak Greek, Latin, Spanish, - the original country's form- and a few other languages. My mother used to think it was important to be well rounded in your education, so she started teaching me different languages as soon as I was born. She would say something in English and then in another language. Greek was what she taught me first."

He quit fidgeting and looked up at me again.

"And I know why you were named death in Greek."

I almost fell over at that. How could he possibly know that? "Why?"

"Because that's what you are. Zoe is the human form of life, Karman is the human form of karma, and you are the human form of death."

"How long have you known that?"

"From the moment you saved me."
