Chapter 18 - Hello, Mr. MVR #1280
Song: PTV - (Don't Fear) The Reaper [cover]
~Thanatos~
I sighed and looked down at the caller ID and grimaced. It was my parents - more specifically, my dad.
"Hello, Father," I said as I got up from the bed.
"Thanatos, we need to have a little chat."
"About what, dearest father mine?"
Okay, maybe I was sucking up a tad bit.
"Don't play that game with me, son."
I gulped. "Well, uh, what was it you wanted to talk about?"
"Leave the room and get away from Blaine. This is a private conversation."
There was no need to ask how he knew. After all, he wouldn't be a very good Grand Reaper if he couldn't keep visual taps on the universe in his mind.
I silently left the room and went to my own. I softly closed the door behind me.
"What were you needing to speak with me about?"
"It's about Blaine."
My heart skipped a beat. If my father was calling about Blaine, something was definitely wrong.
"What is it?" I asked, cautiously.
"It seems the elders know."
I gulped. "How?" I asked weakly.
He growled. "It seems someone else realized there was an interference with fate and informed them. They took a look at the books and saw it was Blaine and that you saved him."
"Shit."
"Exactly."
"Well, what can I do?"
He sighed. "I don't know. But I would suggest stashing him somewhere else for the time being."
"What do you mean?"
"I am going to get into so much trouble for this," my father grumbled to himself. "They are planning to make a surprise visit to see if you still have him."
"Oh, God."
"You need to take him some place no one would ever think to look for him and make sure he stays there until everything cools down a bit."
I sighed and nodded to myself. "Alright. I know of a place."
"Good. Don't tell me. That way I won't be lying if I say I don't know where he is."
"Okay. I've got to go."
"Make haste, my son."
I disconnected the call and called Blaine into my room as I opened my closet.
"What is it?" He asked as he walked through the door.
"Look in the top drawer of my dresser and pull out a pair of gloves." I looked back at him and silently regarded his clothing. "Also, go put some long jeans on as well as a long sleeved shirt and some shoes."
He went bug-eyed as he saw me pull out my cloak. "Where are we going?"
I shook my head. "You don't need to know that right now. Just go do as I asked, okay?"
He nodded and pulled some gloves out of my dresser and left the room again.
I silently pulled my shirt and jeans off before slipping my cloak on. I watched in fascination as the skin melted from my bones.
