Kian, Hassan, and I sat at my mom's kitchen table. After I called her, she called them and made them turn around to come to her house.

"What's your problem, Hassan?" My mom asked.

"I don't want him fucking with my sister." Hassan replied.

"I'm not a bad guy, Hassan. You know me. I'm not going to hurt her." Kian chimed.

Hassan sucked his teeth. "You don't understand."

"Then explain it to me. Make me understand." Kian said.

"I don't have to explain shit." Hassan replied.

"I think I understand." My mom said. "It has something to do with your mama."

"How?" I asked. "My situation is different from hers."

"It's not completely different." Hassan said with tears in his eyes. "Y'all didn't know this, but I remember it even though I was really young."

"What happened?" My mom asked.

"She was seeing this new guy while my dad was in jail and he treated me like I was his own. Then he mysteriously left and my dad ended up getting us back. That's when he started beating my mama because he found out she was fucking with somebody else and that's what led to both of their deaths. Last year, I found out the guy was murdered the same time my dad was released from prison. My dad killed that man." Hassan explained. "I don't want that happening to y'all. I know that Angelo used to beat on you, Nicole and I know that he doesn't know about Kian."

"He's not that crazy, Hassan." I said.

"If he was crazy enough to put his hands on you, then there's no telling what that nigga is capable of doing." He said.

"But he has his own girlfriend and everything. Angelo wouldn't do something like that." I told him. "I know that you're trying to protect us, but it's okay. Trust me."

Hassan sucked his teeth. "Maybe I'm just trippin."

"You're not trippin, baby. We understand where you're coming from. You can't allow the trauma from your childhood eat you up on the inside though." My mom said, touching Hassan's hand.

"I'll never allow your sister to be put into harms way." Kian said. "I can't relate to what you've been through, but I understand."

Hassan nodded. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for coming at y'all like that."

"It's okay, but remind me to take that spare key from under my doormat." I joked.

Hassan chuckled and playfully pushed me.

I slammed my phone on the kitchen counter after I sent Angelo a rude text. I've been trying FaceTiming him so I could talk to Elias since last night and he hasn't been answering. I know he sees me calling. I don't play this petty shit when it comes to my son.

"Still not answering?" Kian asked.

"No and he's pissing me off." I replied.

Kian wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed the back of my neck. "Try calling his mama or somebody."

I picked my phone up and unlocked it. I went to Adonis' number before I pressing the call button and placing the phone against my ear.

"Hello?" He answered on the third ring.

"Adonis, have you heard from Lo? I've been trying to get in contact with him since last night so I can talk to my son, but he's not answering." I said.
