It hurt my soul to do this but I had to. Not because I felt bad, because frankly I didn't, but because I kind of got us in this mess and I think I would get in trouble by my dad.Once we arrived back at the hospital my dad was there looking for me and looking for Dr. Yang. Nobody saw us walk back inside the hospital which was perfect. Once Dr. Yang rolled me inside my room my dad's eyes were relieved.
"What happened?!" Nurses asked as they rushed in, "You two were gone and we though she went missing" they said.
"I-"
This was my cue to jump in and save him from getting fired since I was his responsibility no matter what, "you guys won't believe what happened" I chuckled, "we went for a walk around the hospital after I woke up and I got really hungry so we sat in an empty hallway and ate a sandwich and we just talked about hospital drama and my summer so far, we didn't realize that we've taken so much time and that everyone was looking for me" I said as I let out a fake laugh at the end, "Dr. Yang is the best." I stated drily.
My dad seemed pleased as he thanked Dr. yang and the nurses threw themselves at him. I looked up at him and he smiled down at me as he ruffled my hair.
"Can I go home now?" I asked as I flashed him a small grin.
He sighed as he looked at my thigh for a quick second, "I'll get your discharge papers." He said as he walked out of the room with the nurses right behind him.
"How are you feeling?" My dad asked as he looked at me with worried eyes.
"It doesn't hurt as much as it did before." I said as I rubbed my eyes.
"Want to change?" He asked.
I realized my packs of cigarettes and lighter were resting under my gown and I shook my head side to side, "I'll wait until we get home." I smiled.
We didn't leave the hospital until the afternoon. It was a long process to fill out paperwork and then help me inside of my dad's car. I struggled to hide my cigarettes as my father carried me into our home and upstairs to my room. I traded my wheelchair for crutches, I was kind of a fan of the wheelchair because I got to sit all the time.
"There's a change of clothes here, I'm going to heat up food for you. Yell if you need anything." He said as he walked out and closed the door.
I sat down on my bed and muttered curse words as I gently slipped on pajama shorts and ripped off the paper gown to put on a baggy shirt. I hid my cigarettes under my pillow and laid back in bed.
The day seemed to go by quick and before I knew it, I was fed and my breath was minty after brushing my teeth. I was ready to go to bed when I heard a very faint knock on my window. I quickly turned around frightened that it might of been that fucking clown but instead it was Richie.
I sighed in relief as I grabbed my crutches and quietly walked over to the window. I opened it and looked at him annoyed.
"What do you want?" I whispered with a shaky voice.
All of a sudden my panic came back. I'm scared shitless of something that I don't know if it's real or not and a part of me is glad that Richie is here now.
