Phoebe didn't discharge me until the next morning. I didn't care because Richie spent the entire day with me, making me laugh and get those silly butterflies in my tummy.

I gripped my crutches as I began 'walking' to my dad's car as he walked next to me aware of every step I took.

"How's your voice?" He asked.

"It's b-better." I stuttered, "still bu... burns." I said as I stood in front of the car door.

"Remember, drink a lot of water." He said as he opened the door for me, "I'm going to take a few more days off work." He said as he helped me inside.

I widened my eyes and furrowed my eyebrows, "no." I said with my raspy voice, "No m-more Days... we n-need the money." I said as I tied my seatbelt.

"It's going to be fine." He said as he set my crutches in the back seat.

"No." I said.

"Then who's going to take care of you?" He asked as he closed my door and walked over to the driver's seat.

"Richie." I stated without thinking, "he... he can take care o-of me." I said.

"Richie?" He asked, "he's a good kid, but there's no way I'm leaving you alone with him." He said as he turned on the car.

"Why?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

"He's a boy and you're a girl, do you want me to explain further?" He asked, "actually now that I think about it, we haven't had the talk..." he said awkwardly.

"Oh god." I muttered, "I-i don't want to He-hear it." I said as I covered my ears.

"Oh Cole, don't be immature." He said as he began driving home.

"I-it's not like that with Ri-Richie." I huffed, "We're Just friends." I said.

"Oh Cole, I was his age once, I see the look in his eyes." He said.

I smiled slightly as I looked out the window, "he's a good boy." I said quietly, "he can ca-care for me." I said.

He stayed silent for a couple of seconds before letting out a sigh, "Okay, but as long as we have the talk." He said.

I let out a sigh, "d-dad, nothings going to happen with Richie... I-i bet he hasn't even hit pu-puberty." I said with a small laugh.

My dad joined in laughing as he kept on driving, "Still. Let's cut to the case, it's called sex." He stated bluntly.

"Dad." I said as I closed my eyes.

"Listen, you're a beautiful young lady and there's going to be guys who are going to want to you know... kiss you, put hands where they don't belong." He said seriously. How can he keep a straight face right now? I'm so close to bursting out in laughter, "and knowing how stupid boys are, they're definitely going to want to take things further by trying to take off your clothes and want to have sex with you." He said.

I let out a small laugh, "d-dad... I'm not going to have s-sex until I'm ready." I said.

"That's all that matters sweetheart." He said, "don't ever let boys touch you and if they do you tell me and I'll make sure they'll never touch you ever again." He said.

"I know papa bear." I chuckled, "I'll t-tell you after I b-beat them u-up."

"That's my girl." He smiled as he reached over and rubbed my shoulder, "also one more thing, I know nobody knows your body better than you, but there's going to be a time in your life maybe later on but you're going to have your first period-"

"Dad." I stopped him, "I already h-had my first pe-period." I said quietly, "I was going to tell you but-but I thought it would be a-awkward." I said.

"It's fine. You know everything about it right?" He asked, "how to keep clean and everything?"

"Dad yes." I said as I covered my face in embarrassment.

"It's the first time I've had to do this. I'm not good at it." He said awkwardly.

I smiled, "Y-you're trying your be-best. Thank you." I smiled, "I love you." I said as I turned to look at him with a small smile.

"I love you too darling." He said as he kept his eyes on the road.
