After he got off work he actually took me to McDonald's. I guess the first period card works on him. Then we parked the car at a park and ate our meal.

"But I don't know what I did, I really did tell her that I loved her and then she jus theft." He sighed.

I rolled my eyes, "you're such a nerd." I said, "you don't tell her you love her after the first date!"

"Every single girl is practically ready to get married after the first date!"

"Obviously not her." I chuckled, "okay my turn." I said as I cleared my throat and wiped my hands with a napkin, "theres this kid.. and he held my hand and-"

"Don't tell you two.."

"What?"

"You know."

"Are you fucking kidding me Phoebe?! No we didn't!" I said annoyed, "maybe if you let me finish the story you'll know." I said, "anyway, we snuck out last night and met up and we held hands and then before that he kissed me on my cheek and then before that we.. kissed."

"You're a fetus! What are you doing kissing boys?" He questioned.

"It was an emotional day for everyone!" I lied.

He let out a small laugh, "I remember my first kiss." He sighed, "Marry Jones, she smelled like strawberries and it happened in this very same park."

"Okay weirdo.." I said as I widened my eyes, "what happened to her?"

"She dumped me for Mike Murphy." He said with a low huff.

"Is it weird that I'm sitting in the car of my doctor talking about being dumped?" I asked as I chewed on a fry.

He shrugged his shoulders just like Richie and I quickly looked away, "Derry is a great place but the people make me feel uneasy." He said.

"How come?" I asked.

"Look at me, what do you see?" He asked.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "a weirdo with a lot of knowledge?" I questioned.

He rolled his eyes, "I'm Asian! You don't see that here in Derry. People don't like me because I'm different." He sighed.

"Different is good Phoebe." I sighed, "it's boring being the same as everyone else, look at me I have blue hair; blue hair is crazy!"

"Blue is awesome." He smiled.

"I agree." I smiled as I finished my meal and stuffed everything in the paper bag. I casually looked ahead and gasped as I quickly slid down the passenger's seat.

"What? What's wrong?" He asked as he looked ahead.

"That's him." I said quietly.

"Your boyfriend?" He asked.

"He's not my boyfriend." I said with an eye roll.

"Why are you hiding from him?" He asked.

I peeked and watched as he walked across the street with all of his friends, "it's complicated."
