I went to work feeling somewhat confident. I kept thinking about Louis and how he was actually right about one thing: if Harry wanted me that bad, he would date me. Otherwise, I needed to find someone who would actually call me their girlfriend.
And don't get me wrong, I know I don't necessarily need someone in my life to make me happy. I'm extremely happy all on my own. I love my job and I love my friends, but I'm at that point in my life where I want to settle down and eventually get married and share my happiness with someone else. If Harry didn't want to do that, then I wasn't about to waste my time.
"Good morning, sunshine," Louis greeted me in the lobby as I waited for the elevator. "Sleep well?"
"Surprisingly, yes," I nodded. "The margaritas allowed me to have a full night's sleep."
"I bet Harry was excited to see your drunk áss." He laughed.
"I wasn't drunk," I rolled my eyes with a smile. "Just buzzed. But he was definitely not about to have the 'relationship' conversation with me last night."
Louis groaned and took a sip of his tea. "He's more dramatic than I am."
"The thing is, if I do try going on a date with someone else, it's got to be someone who will make him jealous enough." I said.
"The answer is literally right in front of you, Viv," he scoffed. "Take Alex."
The elevator doors opened and I looked at him wildly as we went to our desks. "Are you insane? I just want to make Harry jealous, not commit homicide."
"Oh, come on, Viv, he's not that crazy. And besides. Alex has the hots for you so it won't be that hard to ask him out. Just go on one date and show Harry that if he wants to keep you, he's gotta label that shît."
"Are you confident Harry won't blow a gasket?"
He laughed and shook his head. "Of course not. Harry will have steam coming out of his ears. But at least he'll realize that you're a woman who deserves more than just a fûck buddy."
I sighed and sat down, knowing he was right. I still just felt extremely awful choosing Alex. I was basically using him to get Harry to do what I wanted, and Harry told me plenty of times he wasn't a good guy. Maybe he just told me that so I'd stay away from him.
After work, Louis and I went to the game together so he could help me out with the Alex situation. I had all of my material ready for the interviews Chelsea wanted after the game, and I couldn't tell if I was excited or nervous for what I was going to give her.
We arrived early so I could take notes and watch the team warm up. Louis was more than happy to go early solely to watch the boys run around the bases a few times.
"Hunter Reynolds has such a cute butt." He commented.
I laughed and said, "That's not exactly a comment I can put in next week's article, Lou."
"True." He said. "Maybe in a blog post. Maybe I'll dedicate a twitter account solely to post about his butt."
"You're somethin' special, Louis," I laughed. I watched Alex emerge from the dugout next to us, and I bit my lip just as Louis nudged my shoulder. I hesitated and gave him a look before turning back to Alex and saying, "Hey, Alex."
He turned and his eyes landed on me, his smile widening. "Hey, Vivian. What's up?"
"Not much, just here to watch you guys kick áss, yet again." I shrugged with a small grin. He took a sip from his water bottle and nodded.
"Saw you at The Lighthouse the other night," he commented. "I wanted to say hello, but Harry was being an áss."
I slightly rolled my eyes and said, "Don't worry about him." I noticed his teammates starting to gather around home plate and I said, "Have a good game."
