"What do you mean you broke a rib?!" I said with wide eyes. He frowned and waved his hand to stop me.
"No, no, I said I may have," he defended. "Don't make it a bigger deal —,"
"A bigger deal? Harry, you can't play with a broken rib."
"We don't know if it's broken." He said simply, hiding the cringe in his face. "I'm fine."
"You need to sit down, have the trainer look at you." I said. "Are you going to the hospital?"
He scoffed, and immediately held his hand to his mid-torso, to which I raised an eyebrow at.
"Yes, I'm going to the hospital," he said with an eye roll. "After the game."
"After the — Harry, you need to go now. You don't know how bad it is."
"It's fine." He said. "Coach said I'd be fine."
I raised my eyebrows in faux shock and said, "Oh, he said you're fine? Did he x-ray you himself?"
"Viv, seriously, it's not a big deal."
And just as he said this, a couple EMTs appeared in the dugout and motioned for Harry to approach them to be examined. I shot him a look and he gave me one right back before heading over to the technicians. I knew I was technically in an area where I wasn't allowed to be standing, so I called to Harry and asked, "Are they making you go?"
"Yes," he groaned, and I rolled my eyes at his dramatic attitude.
"I'll meet you at the hospital."
I left and went back to my seat, grabbing my stuff and saying, "Harry's going to the ER, they think he broke a rib so I'm meeting him there."
"Do you want us to come with you?" Leigh-Anne asked.
I shook my head and said, "I doubt they'll even let me in, but if they do, I don't want you guys to have to sit in the waiting room by yourselves."
"Well, text us if you need anything," Louis said. "Who knows how long you'll be there."
I nodded and made my way out of the stadium and to the bus stop. I knew I should be focused more on Harry's potential injury, but part of me had to be concerned over the outcome of this game without Harry on the mound. I had no idea who their backup pitcher was, but hopefully he could strike out some players and the team could score some runs without Harry; one could only pray.
I made it to the hospital after a few excruciatingly long minutes, texting Harry about the room they've put him in and hoping no body guards would stop me, but unfortunately, it wasn't just the body guards trying to keep me away.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," the nurse behind the desk told me. "I can't let you into his room, it's the policy."
"My policy is that I'm his girlfriend and I need to see him." I frowned. Another nurse next to her laughed and said, "Hon, a lot of girls pull the girlfriend card. You aren't any different."
"Do you want a background check or something?" I said, raising an eyebrow. I pulled out my phone and dialed Harry's number, and he answered fairly quickly.
"Babe, I'm going into the x-ray soon, I can't have my phone." He said. "What's up? Where are you?"
I sighed. "I'm in the waiting room. The nurses won"t let me in."
"Well, tell them to fûck off. I'll tell my nurse here to let you in."
"Thanks, Harry," I said, and I could see the desk nurses rolling their eyes out of my peripheral vision. It wasn't long before another nurse entered the lobby and saw me.
