Harry's POV

"Alex, call the police!" I said, just as Tanner took another swing at me. It was a pretty far reach, given Alex and Tanner were working together and I doubt he would be willing to snitch on his friend.

Tanner lost his balance and I took my chance, grabbing his shirt at his shoulders and shoving him against the tiled wall. He dropped the bat, and I pushed him out of the bathroom. He staggered to the floor, and I nearly leapt on top of him before throwing a punch to his stupid jaw.

I was full-on losing it. All the built-up jealousy of Tanner being with Vivian first, the fact that he was stupidly successful in whatever stupid career he had, his stupid affair with another woman and fûcking with Vivian — not to mention all the hatred I felt towards Alex — but everything was boiling over in this moment, and I couldn't even comprehend the situation until I felt myself being pulled off Tanner, blood staining my knuckles and my pulse racing.

"Enough, son, enough!" An officer pulled me back before another one came to help him after I almost launched myself forward again. I tried slowing down my breathing as I watched paramedics flood into the apartment to tend to Tanner's limp body. I immediately realized what I had done, and panicked when I remembered Vivian in the bathroom.

I tried to turn to see her, a few officers tending to her and removing her restraints. Her eyes met mine, and they were bloodshot and full of terror. She had witnessed the whole thing, my whole outburst. I probably could've killed Tanner with how hard I was punching him if the police hadn't stopped me.

Before I could even speak to her, the officers led me out of the apartment and down the steps. "Please, don't arrest me! I was just defending my girlfriend —,"

"Calm down, we're just going to detain you, you're not under arrest." The officer to my right said. "Stand by this car for a moment, okay?"

I nodded and remained where I was, feeling like pure shît standing outside with bloody knuckles and probably a torn shirt with my wrists handcuffed, but I was just praying that Vivian wasn't mad at me or afraid of me. I've never let my anger take over like that, and I pray I never have to do it again. She looked at me like I was a monster, and I don't blame her.

"Hey, man," another officer appeared next to me and opened his small notebook. "So, I just talked to the kid who called us —,"

"I swear I didn't —,"

"Hey, chill," he assured me. "He said you were attacked by the other guy — Tanner — and it was all self defense."

I let out a shaky sigh of relief, nodding my head. "Y-Yeah, yeah."

"Listen, we have to talk to him as well, once he regains consciousness," he explained, and I held back the cringe that began to creep onto my face. "There's a possibility that he may press charges, but because we have statements from a third party, it's not likely the charges will go through. I have officers speaking to your girlfriend currently for a statement from her."

"Am I going to jail?"

"No, no," he chuckled. "You're not going to jail. We did have to detain you, however, due to the situation. We'll let you go before we leave."

I nodded and looked down to the ground, staring at my feet. I felt so embarrassed and ashamed, I honestly felt like just getting in the car and having them drive me away so I didn't have to face Vivian. I was so nervous to face her after this.

After a few minutes of me giving my statement to the officer, I heard the door open and I turned to see the EMTs rolling Tanner out on a stretcher and towards the ambulance. Vivian and Alex followed behind and stopped at the sidewalk while a few officers continued speaking to them.
