CH 25: Give us a chance.

Authors Note:

Hey Guyss. The last chapter left us all speechless. It was so heartbreaking to write it, I cant even imagine how would it feel to read it. This chapter will be a little short, but to make up for it the next will be very long. :p I hope you enjoy this. This chapter marks the beginning of the last 8 chapters of Stay. The countdown begins.

*Ciara's P.O.V* 

*3 Months Later*

I am sitting on my bed, scrolling through my phone, deleting anything and everything that is directly or indirectly linked to Kyle.

3 months back, when Kyle broke up with me, I was so shook it was almost like the earth had been pulled away from underneath my feet. But my friends; Nina, Mason and Theo saved me from falling too deep. They have been the shoulder I needed to cry on, the pillow I wanted to hug, the people because of whom I am sitting here today, deleting these pictures without shedding a single tear. 

I do feel bad, God, I feel awful while doing this but I don't cry. Kyle left me, I've accepted that fact and moved on. The day after our breakup, I sent back the lapis lazuli necklace Kyle had given me. I did not need it anymore.

I hear plates and spoons rattling downstairs and I know that Nina and Mason are doing wonders in the kitchen. I put my phone away and move downstairs to check on them. They may both be amazing cooks but they bicker a lot when they're together. I decide to sneak up on them today, try and scare them or something. I tiptoe towards the kitchen and stop near the kitchen door, hiding behind the wall. 

Surprisingly, they are both talking in whispers. Curiosity gets the best of me and I eavesdrop.

"You should tell her. this is the best time Mason. She is over him now and she needs someone to turn to," I hear Nina say.

"But I don't want to ruin what we already have," Mason sighs.

Tell who what and ruin what, I dont understand a thing. What are they both talking about.

"Look, you and Ciara have been friends since forever. I think she would take it positively if you tell her you love her."

What the... I become paralyzed for a moment after hearing this. Mason loves me? Since when? Why couldnt I figure it out? I stumble towards the entrance of the kitchen, trying to put my thoughts in place. Mason and Nina's eyes widen as they realize that I have heard their conversation.

"Ciara...," Mason comes towards me but I motion for him to stop. With that, I grab my coat from the stand and run outside.

I walk down the streets, trying to clear my head and it all makes sense now: Mason and Kyle never getting along. Mason not acting well to the news that me and Kyle were a couple. Mason leaving. It was all because he loved me all this while.

As i make my way towards the end of the street, I hear Mason behind me.

"Ciara, wait."

I ignore his pleas for me to stop and continue to walk down ahead. All of a sudden he grabs my arm and spins me around to face him.

"Mason, let me go," I say, while he takes my hands in his.

"No Ciara, just please, dont run away. Please. I know you're just afraid because of all that has happened with Kyle, but I promise I will never hurt you in this way. Or any other way for that matter. I will be there for you always no matter what. Just give me a chance, give us a chance."

I look into his eyes and all I see is sincerity. So I move forward, get on my tiptoes, and kiss Mason with everything I had in me.
