"You're a liar, tell me truth, what were you doing outside at this hour of night?"
"I was at the hospital, I swear to God, I ....."
"I SAID THE TRUTH," my father, marches angrily towards my mom and grips her by the throat. He glares at her angrily for a moment and then throws her away.
I crouch at the edge of the staircase, my legs giving out from beneath me. I put my face in my hands and weep. The sudden sound of a slap echoes through the house and I freeze in my place."

I wake up with a start, covered in sweat and shivering.
' A dream, it was just a dream, it's all over now, it's alright,' I calm myself down.
I take a deep breathe and get out of bed. I glance at the clock, it's 10:00 am. I should have been in the school two hours ago. Gosh, what am I doing to myself? My thoughts are interrupted by the clattering sound of dishes in the kitchen. I twitch my eyebrows in confusion and suspiciously walk downstairs.
As i reach the kitchen, I put my hand on my chest, and take a sigh of relief.
"MASON! You scared the hell out of me."
Mason looks at me with an apologizing look on his face, his hands busy flipping the pancakes on the stove. Did I ever mention that Mason is an uh-mazing cook? And he makes these killer pancakes, that even a pancake hater would love them. Although, I seriously doubt that there exists someone who doesn't like pancakes.
The kitchen counter is laid out beautifully. There are plates for me and him and honey, nutella, butter and of course, COFFEE.
"Did I wake you up?," he says. "I, uh, accidentally dropped some spoons," he scratches the back of his head.
I giggle at his clumsiness and sit on one of the stools.
"Why did you not go to school?" I ask.
"You expect me to leave you alone to rot in a pile of bad memories linked with this day?," he raises an eyebrow.
I go silent at the mention of this day, the day my mom and dad got divorced. Mason sighs and comes towards me. He cups my face in his hand and lifts it towards him.
"Hey. Cheer up. That day is long gone now, forget about it, eat these," he lays the pancakes on my plate.
As I am about to stuff those pancakes into my mouth, Mason interrupts me.
"Oh, and um, before you start making love to those pancakes," (at which he earns a glare from me), "Nina wanted to come too, but I asked her to stay with Theo and Kyle."
"Alrighty," I say with a mouth full of pancakes.
Next Scene
"Some asshole paid me to take out this really great girl."
"Is that right?"
"Yeah, but I screwed up. I, um, I fell for her."
I am sprawled out on the couch, my legs dangling from the sofa. I am almost on the final scene of 'Ten things I hate about you,' when I hear light tapping sounds on the window. i switch the DVD mode on the T.V back to cable and walk towards the window. I draw the curtains back and am greeted by tiny raindrops sliding down the window. All of a sudden the light taps turn into rattling noises as the rain comes down in heavy showers, like the angels are pouring buckets full of water from Heaven. I smile to myself and go out the backdoor into the backyard. I sit under the shade and watch the rain wash away all the dirt from this world and stir everything back to life. I close my eyes and try to forget all the bad memories attached with this day.
"I see that you love the rain."
My eyes shoot open and I turn around to see Kyle standing in the doorway, giving me one of his signature smirks.
"Kyle, how did you even get in?" I ask.
"It wasn't hard to find the 'hidden key' under your mat," he replies and I shake my head in disbelief.
"Come on," he grabs my hand and pulls me into the rain.
"Kyle, what are you doing?" I shriek, now soaked from head to toe, my clothes clinging to my body, my hair drenched, water dripping from them, and trust me, it is an ugly sight.
As I complain about my soaked self to Kyle, he takes my hand in his and pulls me towards him.
"What are you up to now?" I ask.
"We are going to dance," he replies.
"WHAT?" I shriek again. "There is one thing you should know about me and that is I am a terrible dancer.
"Don't worry, I dont know how to dance either," he replies.
He places one of my hands on his shoulder, and on in his hand. Then he places his hand on my waist, and believe me when I say, an electric shock goes through me at his sudden touch.
After some ten minutes of dancing, more like jumping around with goofy smiles on our faces, Kyle spins me one last time and pulls me towards him. But this spin doesn't end like the others. I was thinking he'd just let me go and then we'll both go inside and dry ourselves up and drink hot chocolate. That is so not what happened. When Kyle pulls me towards him after spinning me around, he doesn't let me go, instead, he smashes his lips against mine. And no matter how hard my mind was telling me to push him away, my body just betrayed me, and my arms wrapped around his neck and I kissed him back with the same passion.
After a minute of making out in the rain, which was very romantic, Kyle breaks the kiss. He rests his forehead against mine, both of us breathing heavily.
"I am so in love with you," Kyle says, in such a low voice that it is barely a whisper.
"What?" I look at him, confused as hell.
"Ciara Smith..," he begins and bends down and sits on one knee, "I, Kyle Anderson, am in love you, and I would gladly turn this day into one with happy memories linked to it. So, it is m great pleasure to ask you, will you be my girlfriend?'
I stand there frozen in the rain, staring at Kyle, and trying to keep my heart from bursting out of my chest.
"Yes," I mutter.
"Yes, yes, yes," I nod my head and giggle.
Kyle stands up and plants a kiss on my head. He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out the most beautiful necklace I have ever seen.
It is a silver necklace, with a blue stone as the pendant and a silver design covering the top of the stone. I hold my hair back and Kyle places it on my neck.
"This looks more beautiful on you than I thought."
I throw my hands around his neck and he lifts me up and swing me around, and in that moment, I am the most happiest person alive.
