Im falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet. - Ed Sheeran

I soaked the towel in the bucket once again, this time wiping the blood from Mason's forehead. As I finish, I take the bucket and proceed to move to the kitchen but Mason grabs my arm, stopping me.
He studies my face and searches my eyes before saying, "Why did you agree to have lunch with him?"
I take a long sigh before replying, "He wanted to explain himself. Wanted to clarify things, clear misunderstandings and be friends again. I couldn't disagree."
"You seriously thinks he wants to be friends?"
"Ofcourse, why wouldn't he," I mutter, glancing at him.
"I've seen the way he looks at you."
"There is no 'way' he looks at me, not anymore," I snort.
"You still love him, don't you?," he whispers, placing his thumb under my chin and forcing me to look at him.
I stare into his eyes for a while, and take too long to reply.
"No, I don't," I quickly get up and move out of the room.

"And then Kyle walked out," I say to Nina, finishing my story as we both stroll down the streets.
"Now I get it. Why Theo has been spending so much time at Kyle's house. He also said something about Kyle not being well and constantly getting drunk."
"He's going to destroy himself," I mumble.
"Then help him," Nina says.
"Shut up," I narrow my eyes at her.
"What?," she asks.
"I want to. But after what he did to Mason, I think I need to stay away from him for a while. And he needs to stay away too."
"Well, thats not happening," Nina whispers, looking ahead.
"What?," I glance at her and follow her eyes to where she is staring. And I see Kyle standing a few feet from us.
"We're going," I say to Nina and grab her arm, turning her around.
"Ciara, wait," Kyle calls after me.
"I dont want to listen to anything right now Kyle," I say to him as he approaches me.
"Please. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hit Mason, but he pushed me off the edge. I'm sorry," increasing his pace to keep up.
"Go. I heard what you said, now go," I say, without even glancing at him.
I get in the cab approaching us, pulling Nina with me. I tell the cab driver to drive away and then I look in the rear view mirror, at Kyle's devastated face as he watches me leave. My heart aches in my chest and my insides coil as I watch him.
"The town ball's coming up," Nina says, trying to distract me.
"I know. I might not go. With all thats going on."
"Are you out of your mind? Ciara, you've wanted to go to this ball ever since you were six. You lived for this ball. And now that you're finally of age, you're saying you won't go?"
"I havent talked to Mason about it. He's my escort. And I don't have a dress. Its in a few days and I just wiped blood off Masons face. He's in no state to go to a ball."
"We'll see," she shrugs.

"Mason, Im home," I say, entering the house. I throw the keys on the table near the door, hang my jacket on the peg and move towards the tv lounge.
"Mason, where are...... Oh my God," I breathe.
On the couch in the lounge, there laid is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen.
It is a dull gold and black strapless ball gown, made of diamonte sequin, tight at the waist and then flowing down in a puffy glittering skirt. It shimmered as the sunlight from the window shone on it, as if all the beads and diamonties had come to life.
"Oh my God," I say again, unable to register.
"Hey what.... Oh shit. You weren't supposed to see that until tonight," Mason scratches the back of his head, appearing behind me.
"What?," I ask, still not getting it.
"The town balls in a few days, I know you've always wanted to go. I couldn't let you miss it this year. So I ordered this. For you to wear when we go. You were to see this when I asked you tonight. But you already did. So well, will you be my date for the ball?", he says.
"Mason..... I....this. I cant accept this dress. This is so expensive. It must have cost you a fortune. I cant take this," I say, shaking my head.
"Hey," he says, stepping forward and cupping my face between his hands. "Nothing is too expensive when it comes to you. So will you go?"
"Of course I will,"I say, throwing my arms around him and giggling as he spins me around.
