*Kyle's P.O.V*
The chirping sound of birds stirs me awake. I groan and grab my phone to look at the time. So much for a nap.
7:00 p.m.
God. Exactly one hour later we're all supposed to go out for dinner. It was Theo's idea, and surprisingly everyone agreed. So now, I'll have to watch Mason getting all love dovey with my girl.
My girl, yes.
That is what Ciara has always been. Not one day has passed that I haven't gotten drunk while thinking of her. I spent 5 months in my worst nightmare, so when Steve told me we were going to Fellsburg to escape the police, I was more than happy. Coming back meant I get to see Ciara, but I knew that out of all the places we could have gone to escape, we came to Fellsburg so Steve could see if I was to loyal to the gang or not.
Eversince I came back and saw Ciara with Mason, its like someone tore apart my chest, took out my heart and trampled it. Seeing them together, makes me regret leaving Ciara more. She is so beautiful. Always have been. I cant believe I left her. I'm a stupid, stupid man. The dumbest person alive. Coming back here made me realize that I cant live without her. So I decided last night that I would talk to Steve about this. I couldn't go behind his back and put Ciara in danger. Surprisingly, Steve agreed to me being with Ciara, only if she isnt a hindrance in my work. I promised him that last night. And now, Im going to win her back.
Next Scene
The restaurant is perfectly quiet, except for some hushed whispers. A soothing song plays in the background as couples dance across the floor. I relax in my seat, rolling my sleeves and sigh as I watch Theo tell Nina something funny and then her giggling.
The restaurant today is playing some sort of lucky draw game. I read a poster on its window outside which said something in the terms of putting our names in the bowl, then the waiter picking out names randomly, and that the people picked are supposed to dance together. As I am thinking about poster, an amazing idea pops in my mind. Excusing myself, I quickly get up and make my way towards the counter. Taking a piece of paper and pen, I write down two names and hand them over to the waiter. While doing so, I slip 50$ into his hand too. The waiter looks at the money and then winks at me, pocketing the chits I gave him. I smirk and return to my seat.
A few moments later, Ciara and Mason enter the restaurant. Ciara immediately spots us and waves her hand as a greeting. In return, I smile at her at which her expression turns bitter and she links her arm with Mason. I narrow my eyes at her but she ignores me and they both get seated. Im sitting at the head of the table, while Mason and Ciara are seated across from Theo and Nina.
The good thing? Ciara's sitting on my left so I can look at her all night long.
She looks beautiful as usual in the patterned gold dress she's wearing, her hair in a braided headband.
I stared at her for too long I think, because she turns towards me and as soon as her eyes meet mine, she pulls away.
Afraid.
Shes afraid of even looking at me so that her feelings dont resurface. Im sure of it.
As we are waiting for the waiter to arrive with our food after placing our order, the waiter announces another set of names to step up on the dance floor, at which Ciara's eyes go wide and Mason clenches his teeth.
"Well, well, well. What are the odds?," I say, " Fate is definitely being kind to me today."
Ciara looks at Mason, but he shakes his head; a No.
Jerk.
Thinks he can keep what was rightfully mine out of 'my' hands.
"Come on now. Dont be an obsessive boyfriend sir," the waiter addresses Mason and a few people snicker, earning a scowl from Mason.
He slowly and cautiously lets go of Ciara's hand. I get up and offer my hand to her. which she reluctantly grabs and after intertwining our fingers I lead her to the floor. As we reach the dancing couples, I spin Ciara around and then pull her towards me placing a hand on her waist and tugging her close. I can smell the scent of her perfume, her scent. I take a good sniff, knowing its going to be a while before I get to hold her close again.
Soon, I tell my beating heart. Soon.
"So tell me, what amout of money did you have to give for fate to be so kind to you?," Ciara asks, tilting her head to a side.
"50$ to be exact," I smirk and she snorts in response.
"Listen Ciara, lets clear stuff between us. Lets be friends again, like we were before."
"Only for you to leave me again?," she retorts.
"Im sorry, I had no choice. I was...," I trail off, unable to find the right words.
"Was?," she asks.
"Nothing, please Ciara. Ill explain everything. Ill explain why I had to join the gang. All of it. I want to be a part of this group again. I have nowhere else to go. Give me a chance."
After what seemed like and hour of silence and Ciara studying me, and me giving her the puppy eyes, she finally replies," Okay. Alright. Over lunch. My house at 3. You explain and we'll see. But this stays between us. Because Im willing to give you a chance and Mason is not. Im not upsetting him or jeopardizing my relationship."
"I didnt realize he's the boss of you," I say.
"He isnt," she replies and pulls away, walking back to our table.
