POV Austin

When the woman who has been on Austin's mind for the last few weeks disappear into the crowd, he turns back to his friend. Jason looks astonished when I face him.

"Excuse my French, but what the fuck just happened?" Jason ask.

Austin finds that he feels just as shock and surprised that Jason look. He can't explain it either. The woman has that effect on him. With her long brown hair, honey brown eyes and olive skin tone, she looks exquisite. And Austin couldn't help but have a second look when he saw her the first time.

"I don't know," Austin replies with a sigh.

"You don't know! Who the hell is she? And why is she making the great Austin Ames act like a player."

"Why are you making such a big deal out if this?"

Jason looks at me strangely. "You just offered yourself to a woman that you barely know. That's not something you do. And  you're asking me why I'm making a deal out of it."

"Why can't I offer myself to a woman I don't know. Lots of men do it all the time. Hell, you have one night stands all with strange women all the time. And have you seen that woman." Austin says calmly, then starts walking to the exit of the club.

"Are you serious Ames?" Jason asks his friend again when they are both sitting in Austin's  newest Mercedes Benz.

"Of course I'm not f... serious. Why are you being an idiot? She works at the company. "

"Is this about Gabriela?" Jason voice is sympathetic when he ask the question.

Austin feels like shouting at him then. He hates it when people bring her up like that.

"No, this has nothing to do with Gabriela."

He finds it in himself to answer calmly. Everyone has been nagging him about her. He is getting sick of it.

"Well have you heard from her? Or is she still missing in action?"

"No. And I really don't want to talk about her."

"Ohk, I understand. So this woman who works at the company, is th...."
Before Jason can go further Austin stops him.

"I don't want to talk about her either." He says annoyed.

"Than what do you want to talk about?" Jason asks defeated.

" Your new job at the company." Austin says, surprising Jason.

" But I have a job. A great job." Jason says, confused.

"But you can have a better job. The pay will be better and you will be working for me." Austin says arrogantly.

"What about John then. Isn't he your family lawyer? Won't he be like... you know, not happy about me being in his place."

Austin shrugges." He can still be the family's lawyer. Just not mine. I don't trust him enough."

Just then the car stops before a apartment complex.

"So can I expect you by next week."

Jason looks at him for a moment. "I just don't want problems from your old man. But I'll think about it." He says opening the car door and exiting.

"Enjoy the rest of your night than, Ames." He says with a wave towards Austin.

Austin just waves him a goodbye. When the car starts again, his phone begins to ring.

"Hello mother." He answers gruffly.

"Austin, it's your father. His been admitted into the hospital." His step mother sounds hysterical. And it makes his heart race and his body goes cold for a moment. He didn't think he would have this kind of reaction about his father.

"I'm on my way." Is his reply before he hangs up the phone.

At the hospital, they direct him to the VIP wing. When he gets to his father's room a lot of his family members is present. They all look like someone has died. The cold feeling passes through his body again.

He has to fight to hold in the sigh of relief when he sees his father's eyes open. His father's eyes than lands on him.

"Hello son. I'm glad you came. The cancer has spread and they want to operate as soon as possible." His father has never been someone who likes to make small talk.

"I have already made contact with John. You will be the new CEO by tomorrow." He declares. "I'm sorry. I thought I could give you more time to get used to your responsibility, but as you can see..." He ends with an attempted shrug.

The only thing Austin can do is nod his head. The company was always going to be his responsibility after his father retired. He just thought that he had more time. For what he doesn't know exactly. But he wanted to be part of the masses just a little while longer.
