I turned quickly, "Um...I had to use the restroom and I saw this room. I'm sorry."
"It's fine, it's just my dads office. He just doesn't like it when people are in here."
Then I heard something it sounded like someone was in the house.
I put my index finger on my lips to tell her to be quiet, "I think I heard something." I whispered.
She looked scared.
"Stay here." I whispered.
"No, I'm coming with you. " She pressed in a whisper.
I grabbed her hand with my left hand and peeked out the door way, I looked behind me to see her and we made eye contact and she had a little fear in them but she also felt safe with me. I gave her a reassurance squeeze. She gripped my hand tight and had her other hand a little above her wrist. I grabbed a bat with my right hand.
We were walking down the hallway slowly, Madison was close behind me. We were getting close to the kitchen and living room. I stopped and I looked at the kitchen, nothing, then walked in the living room and it was Seth and he saw that we were holding hands. We slowly let go.
"Seth!" Madison yelled at him and punched him in the shoulder.
"Sorry, the door was unlocked. You know your happy to see me here." He said as he grabbed her waist and was tickling her. She was laughing and mumbling some words through the laughter.
"Seth, okay stop." She said through laughter.
I was rubbing the back of my head, I was a little uncomfortable.
She pulled her shirt down, "What are you doing here?" She asked in a serious tone.
"I wanted to see how you were doing?"
"It's late, why now?" she asked confused.
"I had to babysit my little sister. Finally my mom got home, then I came here to check on you, but I'm glad I did, because there is someone watching the house."
"He's still there?" She asked.
Seth nodded, "You know the guy?"
"He works for my dad."
"Oh." He said nonchalant.
Then we all sat down on the couch, Madison was in the middle. Seth had his arm around her shoulder.
She looked a little tense, "I'm going to get some more water."
"Why? Your glass is full." Seth asked in confusion.
"Um...I meant Riley, did you want more?" she looked at me like she wanted me to say yes. "Sure I can use more water." I said politely.
"I'll get more." she said as she stood up and walked in the kitchen.
Seth looked at me and then got up and went into the kitchen also. I can over hear what they are saying.
"Madison what's wrong?" He asked curiously.
"Nothing." She said blankly.
"Oh so you don't open up to me, but now your opening up to that new guy." He said in a serious tone.
"I have not open up to him, Seth."
"Save the crap Madison. I saw you guys holding hands. I know you have feelings for him."
"What?" She asked in a soft, confused tone.
"I just thought because when we hang out, you flirt with me."
"Seth, I do not, there is a difference of flirting and be sarcastic. I'm sorry, I just like you as a friend."
"Whatever, admit it or don't admit it. I know you like that new guy. So just save the friend speech."
Then Seth walked out of the kitchen and he gave me a evil look. Then he slammed the front door. Then I saw Madison run out of the kitchen and down the hallway.
I turned off the television and locked the door. I walked down the hallway and went out to the backyard. I looked around, I saw to my right she was sitting on a swinging chair with her knees to her chest crying.
"Madison, are you alright?" I asked in a sincere voice.
She popped her head up and looked the other way, "Yeah, I'm fine." She said through sniffles.
I sat down next her, "You can tell me. I'm hear to listen."
She wiped her tears away, "It's just...Seth told me he likes me and I just said as a friend, but he thought we are together. He is really mad. Just be careful he might get back at you or something."
Great, now I have a enemy, "Don't worry. I'll be fine and so will everything else."
She gave me a smile and put her head on my shoulder.
The next morning I woke up and I was laying on the swinging chair and Madison was laying next me with her back to me. We were really close and my arm was drape over her waist and we were holding hands. Her hair was in my face and I can smell her sweet coconut scent.
She started waking up and making some adorable groans then she turned over and our faces were inches from each other. My heart was pounding so fast, my lungs felt like they couldn't get any air. I couldn't breathe, she was just so beautiful.
She slowly opened her eyes and she was looking straight at me.
She had a smile on her face, "Morning." She said in a whispered.
I smiled back at her "Morning." I retorted back.
She moved a little closer and our foreheads were touching, she was looking at our hands, which they were still connected.
I took a breath. I can't being doing this, I'm not suppose to be falling for my victim in my mission. I need to go and think things over. I sat up and climbed over her.
"Riley, where are you going?" She asked in a panicked and she still had her hand in mine.
"I'm sorry, I have to go, before my mom realizes that I was not home."
"Oh okay, but I'll see you at school?"
"Yeah see you at school." I gave her smile.
We let go and I walked into the house and left.
