Spy on A Mission

Chapter Eighteen

"Riley, I am sorry you had to see that. But I did not want him to do that."

"Its alright, if you liked it, you should be with him. At least he is not complicated like I am." 

She grabbs my shoulders to have me face her, "I don't want to be with him. I want you, even if you are complicated."

"Madison, we can't be together, for right now."

"Then tell me why and stop with all the bullshitting."

I look down, then back up at her. Then I see behind Madison, Seth and a group of his friends who was in the classroom with him that day, they are walking somewhere.

"Riley, you're not even paying attention." She said angrily.

"I have to go." I say as I walk past her.

"Riley, you're leaving now."

"Just stay here, its for your safety."

"No. I'm coming with you."

"Madison, I don't want you involve." I say and take off.

I see Seth and his group, they are huddle up and by a car. I know they are up to something, I pull my phone out and start recording them handing bags to each other. I zoom up so you can see the blueberries. Then there are cop sirens and everyone is running, it's all hectic, damn it. At least I got something.

I started running and I see Madison and I grab her arm, "Come with me."
We get to my car and I drive off and she is breathing heavily. We get away and I'm driving on the road.

"Pull over." She says sternly.

"Are you crazy its the middle of the night."

"I said pull over." She demands.

I slowly pull over and she gets out. Is she crazy, I get out quickly.

"What the hell are you doing?" I yell as I slam my car door.

"I need to know, Riley, before you take me home" She paces back and forth she puts her hands on her head, "I'm going crazy. "

I exhale a breath and I slowly walk up to her.

"I need to know." Her voice starts cracking and tears are rolling down her cheeks.

I take a breath, "Madison."

She steps back, "Don't say what I know you are going to say, we can't, this is the way it is. All that bullshit."

"But its true, its for your safety. I can't tell you for you're safety."

"What are you protecting me from?" She gives me a stern look.

"Just get in the car, its late."

She grabs my arm, "No. You are going to tell me. I'm going crazy here. I'm in love with you, whatever it is, I want to be with you."

"I want to be with you too."

"Then. Tell. Me." She says slowly.

"If I do, you won't want to be with me."

"Try me." She says strictly.

I take a breath, I can't believe I am going to tell her, I hope she is right that she would still want to be with me. I hear a car and it looks like it is coming our way. I grab Madison's arm and open the door and push her in it. I run to the driver's side and take off. The car is following us.

"What is happening?" She asks with a panic voice.

"Someone is following us." I look in the rear view mirror.

"I can see that, Riley." She says sarcastically.

"Look, there are these guys, which Seth is behind all this-"

"Seth! Why is he dealing with this? But I trusted Seth."

"I know, they have something dangerous, its dealing with blueberries. They are like a speed drug that gives you energy and helps you become smarter with things. "

"Blueberries?" She gave me a weird look.

"Yes."

"How do you know this?"

"I just do." I said with frustration.

"Wait, is this what you are keeping from me?" She asked.

"Do we have to talk about this."

"Yes, we do. Apparently I am involve now."

"Fine, I am..." I paused, "A spy." I finally said.

"You're a spy? That is what you've been keeping from me, that is what is keeping us apart?"

"Yes." I' am not looking at her, just straight at the road.

She gives out a chuckle, her cute laugh, wait why is she laughing. I look at her with a confuse look, "Why are you laughing?"

"Because, you being a spy should have nothing to do with us being together.

"It does, because you are my mission."

"Me? Why?"

"Because of you're father, he is part of this mascaraed. These blueberries can harm some people. "

"No, my father would never do anything like this. Why would he create something that can harm people."

"I have no clue, that is why I' am trying to figure this out."

"That's it, you were trying to get close to me in order to figure this out with my father."

I see we are not being followed and I pull over, and she is breathing heavily, I see her chest moving up and down. I turn to look at her, "Madison, it was like that when I first met you, but when I got to know you, I wanted to be with you all the time. Madison! I'm in love with you."

"How could I have been so stupid"

I grab her to face me, "You are not stupid, why would you think that? "

"Because I trusted Seth and you."

"I'm sorry. I had to keep it from you, if my boss finds out he will be mad. But I'm in love with you, everything else was truthful.

"How can i believe you."

"I don't know, but I'm telling you the truth."

She looks at me, "Is that true?"

"Yes. I'm in love with you, I don't want you to get hurt, by getting you involve."

"But I’ am involve." She said in a soft voice as she looked down.

I slid my fingers to her chin and pulled it up so she can look at me. Her beautiful eyes staring at me, I leaned forward where there is some space between our lips, "I will keep you safe, no matter what it takes.”

She gave me a smile and put her hands on my neck and pulls me in for a kiss, I pulled a little away, but still close enough.

She looks at me, "So, what does this mean?"

"It means Madison. I want to be with you" I said and I kissed her. She kisses me back and the kiss goes into a deeper passionate kiss. I hear a car screech and we both pull away.
